Question 2
How does your media
product represent
particular social groups?
We only have two main protagonist in our film
which is a male (Tom) and a female (Scarlett).
They are both white ethnicity like most of the
romance genre films because we didn’t want to
develop or challenge it. Also they normally have a
girl and a boy in romance film but not any other
sexuality as the audience that we are targeting for
might not like to watch them or cannot relate with
the situation as much. The audience will be able to
tell that they came from a middle class as we
showed this by making them look well dressed in a
casual clothes as we wanted them to look like any
other couple in the world. We have shown both
positive and negative representations in the
characters only. Generally positive but very
stereotypical of male and females.
 Scarlett is a 20 year old and innocent
female. We have her narrating about her
life as she is the main protagonist. This is
to make the audience to sort of know
about her life. Even though she is just
wearing casual clothes, there’s a meaning
behind it. By having her wearing white
clothes and grey on her clothing would
    signify her sweetness and pureness.
Scarlett is represented as mature as she
was cycling and doing things all by herself.
 We wanted Tom to be caring person but for
the first two minutes of our film, we didn’t
really show what his real personality is.
However, at the end of our film opening Tom
was being in control by grabbing Scarlett’s
hand as she walks away. This implies the
stereotype that most of the males can take
control of women and women are completely
    opposite.
 At the start of our media product, when Tom
and Scarlett was running and messing about
shows they are both positive in life and both
    lucky to have each other.
 This is where Tom was trying to take control
of Scarlett. It implies the stereotypical in
    males.
 We have showed the both sides of each
  protagonists.
 We used high key and natural lighting as
we wanted to use the same conventions of
the romance genre because we want it to
reflect on our characters happy mood
