CASE	STUDY:	QMS	IMPLEMENTATION	
SITUATION	ANALYSIS:	
A	national	supplier	of	drilling	products	and	services	was	losing	revenue	due	to	vendor	
customer	vendor	audits.	Major	finding	was	the	client	did	not	have	a	comprehensive	
Quality	Management	System	and	was	being	removed	from	their	clients	approved	
vendor	list.		
IMPROVEMENTS	IDENTIFIED:	
Racca	Solutions	Group	was	engaged	to	help	select,	implement	and	achieve	a	QMS	
certification.	The	client	chose	ISO	9001-2008	QMS	standard	for	Its	QMS.	Racca	Solutions	
Group	developed	the	implementation	roadmap,	helped	fill	organizational	gaps,	
developed	QMS	processes	and	designed	the	technology	platform	from	which	the	QMS	
would	operate.	
Lack	of	Basic	Business	Documents	and	Procedures	-	The	supplier	lacked	a	quality	plan	
and	required	basics	to	support	and	obtain	an	ISO	9001	certification.	Existing	
documentation	was	inconsistent,	informal,	and	done	almost	completely	on	paper.	
Limited	traceability	was	in	place;	although,	it	would	not	have	passed	an	audit	for	
certification.		
No	NCR,	CAP,	MOC,	or	Preventative	Action	existed.	Failures	had	occurred	without	any	
ability	to	perform	proper	root	cause	analysis	or	to	correct	further	failures.				
OVERALL	RESULTS:	
Racca	Solutions	Group	led	the	client	through	the	ISO	9001	certification	process.	The	end	
result	was	the	client	achieved	ISO	9001-2008	certification.	Racca	Solutions	Group	also	
engaged	with	the	client’s	biggest	customer	that	had	removed	the	client	for	their	
approved	vendor	list	to	provide	3rd
	party	evidence	that	the	client	had	received	an	ISO	
certification.	These	efforts	led	to	Racca	Solutions	Groups	client	being	approved	for	their	
customer	vendors	list	which	generated	$4MM	in	revenues.
