At the end of the lesson, you will;
• Identify the non-locomotor movements in dancing.
• Execute the non-locomotor movements in dancing.
• Appreciate the positive effect of dancing through
non-locomotor movements.
It is the act of
decreasing the angle
of a joint.
This is the opposite of
flexion. You are
extending if you are
increasing the angle of a
joint.
This is done by
elevating a part of
the body usually for
the arms and legs.
To move a body segment from
an axis halfway front or back
or quarter to the right or left as
in the twisting of the neck
allowing the head to face right
or left.
A full rotation of the
body around a vertical
or horizontal axis.
Full, Half or Quarter
Turn.
A pendular motion of
a body part that can
move forward and
backward or side to
side.
Shifting wave from
one side to the other
side smoothly.
A short quick vibrating
movement in a body
part or the whole body.
1. Form 4 groups.
2. You will perform a short dance of at least 3 NON-
LOCOMOTOR skills using the GENTO song.
3. You will be given a 10 minutes practice with your group
outside the classroom.
4. Teacher will give your assigned areas to practice.
5. After 10 minutes practice, you will present your dance in
front of the class.
6. Your performance will be rated according to the rubrics
given for assessment.

  • 13. This is the opposite of flexion. You are extending if you are increasing the angle of a joint.

You will be given a 10 minutes practice with your group outside the classroom. 4. Teacher will give your assigned areas to practice. 5. After 10 minutes practice, you will present your dance in front of the class. 6. Your performance will be rated according to the rubrics given for assessment.

Shows medium level of proficiency in the execution of steps. Exhibits satisfactory discipline and team work before, during and after the performance. 1 NEEDS IMPROVEMENT Displays low level of mastery. Shows low level of proficiency in the execution of steps. Exhibits improving discipline and team work before, during and after the performance.
