1. The target audience I had decided to go for was men in the age bracket of 20 to 35. The three ways I
came to the conclusion that this was the best age range to go for down to three ways I found
research. They are;
Questionnaire
Focus group
Research into other similar magazines.
Questionnaire:
I sent out a questionnaire over survey monkey which had specific goals that were attempted to be
achieved. For example I asked questions likes what do you expect to find in a typical Indie magazine.
I also asked questions as to what age range you think would be suited to the genre Indie/Rock and
what features e.g. masthead would be the best to use.
Focus Group:
Similarly to the questionnaire I asked similar questions are received similar answers, but the purpose
of this was to consolidate knowledge that what I found out in the questionnaire was accurate.
Research into other similar magazines:
This was the most useful was because it allowed me to see what other magazines that have
produced a magazine similar to me target because of which audience would be most likely to buy it,
and how you would produce features in the magazine to make that possible.
