2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
4. How did you use media technologies in the construction/research/planning/evaluation stages?

 Website Links (Inspirations/Techniques etc.)

EXAMINERS TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL EVALUATION:
“Take a multi-media approach. Whether a presentation, blog or DVD, an effective evaluation uses clips and
stills from production work, feedback from the target audience (often video + audio clip) and a reflective
analysis. Videos can often be paused and annotated, including interviews with their audience. The Evaluation is
often the weakest element of students’ work, so therefore you must put in a significant amount of time and
effort as it carries 20 marks. The worst evaluations are blogs or presentations consisting of entirely text. The
best submissions make the most of the electronic basis of the new spec, thoroughly integrating audio, video,
image, and web links to the written word”.

your main product and ancillary texts?
CTK – A2 Media: Unit G324 Advanced Portfolio Coursework
Q2. How effective is the Combination of Your Main Product & Ancillary Texts?
Here, you areessentially beingasked to discusshow well your media products (Film Trailer,FilmPoster,Film
MagazineFront Cover and Team Website) work together as a promotional packagefor a new movie. You
should usesome of the principlesthatyou learntwhen studyingInstitutions and Audiences in your AS year.
You must write about Cross Media Convergence/Promotion and Brand Identity/Continuity.
 Cross Media Convergence/Promotion is how the media producers promote a media product by
creatingpromotional material which audiences can access usinga widerange of media platforms,
includingaccessingthemedia via smartphones, computer games consoles, the internet, computers, as
well as a variety of other more traditional media formats.Think about how your filmposter would look
when viewed on a billboard,in a magazine,on an advert on a social networkingwebsite (such as
Facebook and Twitter) as well as how itwill look when viewed on an iPhone or Blackberry. Doing some
mocked up illustrationswould bea good idea in order to check to see if text is visible,or images too
small,for example.
 Brand Identity/Continuity is used so that your audiencecan recogniseyour products as being partof
the same package. Your products should demonstrate an element of continuity. This may be in the
form of Typography (ideally your products will haveused the same fonts across your trailer, poster,
and magazine front cover), and also Visual Style(known as production design),consistingof the same
images or range of colours.Such elements help the audience members to understand that all products
belong together and areall promotingthe same product: The Film.
Try to remember the revision you did for the institutions and audiences unitin your AS year. You learned some
very effective phrases,concepts, and terminology.
Think about how some filmmakers try to extend an audiences experience of a film, by offeringlots of
additional content;have you been ableto do this and how?
Try to relate this work back to how your main and ancillary texts (movie trailer, movieposter and movie
magazine front page) work together. Use terminology such as cross media convergence and synergy.
POSSIBLE STRUCTURE:
1). What is synergy/continuity/CMC/brand identity? Why is itimportantfor a movie package?
2). Give examples of Brand Identity/Continuity from Existing Horror Films.
3). Explain and supportwith visuals,the continuity between your 3 products & website: SHOTS/FRAMING +
FILM TITLE + TYPOGRAPHY + COLOUR + LOGOS + areas of MISE-EN-SCENE (props, costume, lighting etc.)
