Ukraine National Municipal Survey, March 2015 by IRIIlya Ponomarev
This document summarizes the results of a survey conducted in 22 regional capitals of Ukraine between March 2-20, 2015. Some key findings:
- 68% see corruption as a significant problem in their city
- 60% see nepotism as a significant problem
- 57% think Ukraine should join the EU if it could only join one economic union
- 47% would vote for Ukraine to join NATO if a referendum were held
- 35% think their city authorities are making efforts to reduce corruption at the municipal level
The survey involved over 17,000 respondents and provides insights into citizen attitudes about local governance, services, and reforms in Ukraine.
1) The document discusses electronic ticketing using smart cards in public transportation. It specifically examines the introduction of smart cards by Sajha Yatayat in Nepal, which initially saw low adoption.
2) The study aims to identify the causes of the smart card payment system's failure to gain popularity among Sajha Yatayat commuters in Kathmandu, through collecting feedback from commuters.
3) Preliminary findings from surveying 28 commuters found that the majority suggested using both cash and card payment systems, or conducting an awareness campaign about the smart card services.
This literature review discusses transportation equity for the unbanked population. It defines unbanked and underbanked individuals as those without access to mainstream banking institutions. The review examines how the unbanked population intersects with environmental justice issues around equitable access to transportation. As transit agencies adopt smartcard fare payment technologies linked to bank accounts, accommodating the unbanked becomes an important consideration. The literature identifies correlations between being unbanked and characteristics like low income, minority status, immigration, and geographic concentration. Ensuring transportation access for the unbanked aligns with principles of environmental justice.
Sociopolitical life of Zaporizhzhia city: the directions of changes that happened during the year and existing problems. The rating of key players in the sphere of politics.
This document proposes the development of an open-source CRM system called OpenCity CRM to help improve small cities in Ukraine. It notes that small cities lack funds for infrastructure maintenance and residents are unaware of budget and repair plans. OpenCity CRM would allow residents to identify priority issues, participate in solutions, and monitor spending, bringing more transparency to local governments. The document outlines the stakeholders in small cities, components of OpenCity CRM, goals such as direct public engagement, and potential results like connecting ideas to funding and enabling peer support networks.
Chicago Community Areas: Youth In Poverty-2018Daniel Bassill

Non school tutor/mentor programs and supporters can use this poverty data to make a case for funding of volunteer-based tutor and/or mentoring programs in different community areas of Chicago. Community groups need to form in every part of the city to help collect information about existing non-school tutor and mentor programs, help existing programs get needed resources, and help new programs start where more are needed.

CitySmart is a social marketing program run by the City of Cambridge to encourage residents to reduce drive-alone trips and shift to more sustainable transportation modes like walking, biking, and transit. In its third year, the program targeted residents in East Cambridge. Surveys found the drive-alone rate decreased 4% after the program, representing a 14.3% shift away from driving. The program used direct mail, events, and information kits delivered by bike to provide neighborhood-specific options for sustainable transportation. Evaluation found the phone surveys skewed older due to fewer households having landlines, though the program successfully encouraged mode shifts among participants.

ParkMobile aims to help cities with this by providing services through its platform to help people find parking, reserve spots, and navigate to different transportation options.
How are we working to improve life in our cities?Alberto Abella
The document discusses how open data from cities can enable third party developers to create applications that improve city services and quality of life for citizens. It provides examples of applications developed using open data from various cities, including Barcelona, Amsterdam, and cities around the globe. These applications have been successful and in some cases outcompeted the cities' own applications. The document advocates for cities to release more open data to enable more third party innovation and improve services for citizens.

A Guide to AI for Smarter Nonprofits - Dr. Cori Faklaris, UNC CharlotteCori Faklaris
Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
