The Hindu religion originated around 2000 BCE when the Aryans invaded India, bringing their religious beliefs with them. Some key Hindu beliefs include samsara or reincarnation, dharma concerning one's duties and ethics, and karma where actions have consequences. Hindus also strive for moksha or liberation from the cycle of rebirth. While Hindus believe in one supreme being, this being has many manifestations, most prominently Brahma the creator, Vishnu the protector, and Shiva the destroyer. Important Hindu scriptures include the Vedas and the Upanishads.
