Freud believed that children pass through psychosexual stages of development from birth through young adulthood. In each stage, the libido or sexual energy is focused on a different part of the body, and the child must resolve the psychological conflict associated with that stage to advance. Fixation in a stage due to overindulgence or frustration can result in issues in adulthood. The stages include oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital. Freud also developed a tripartite theory of personality consisting of the id, ego, and super ego.
This slide is an overview of Psychoanalytic (also called as psychoanalysis) theory of Sigmund Freud. These slides will discuss the main framework of Sigmund Freud, his believe towards it, his principles and so on. It will also discuss about the three parts of human mind the human psyche. Good Luck!

Sigmund Freud’s Psychosexual Theory of Human Development
The concept of psychosexual development, as envisioned by Sigmund Freud at the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, is a central element in the theory of psychology.
This videos describes the key points of psychosexual theory. According to him, personality is mostly established by the age of five. Early experiences play a large role in personality development and continue to influence behavior later in life. The points mentioned in slides are core points. These points are important for paper point of view

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. SIGMUND FREUD
Was a Viennese doctor who came to
believe that the way parent’s dealt with
children’s basic sexual and aggressive
desires would determine how their
personalities developed and whether
or not they would end up well
adjusted as adults.

3. SIGMUND FREUD
Freud described children as
going through multiple stages of
sexual development, which he
labeled Oral, Anal, Phallic,
Latency, and Genital.

5. THE ROLE OF
CONFLICT
Each of the psychosexual stages is
associated with a particular conflict
that must be resolved before the
individual can successfully advance
to the next stage.
The resolution of each of these
conflicts requires the expenditure of
sexual energy and the more energy
that is expended at a particular
stage, the more the important
characteristics of that stage remain
with the individual as he/she
matures psychologically.

6. FRUSTRATION,
OVERINDULGENCE, AND
FIXATION
7/1/2022 6
Some people do not seem to be able to leave one
stage and proceed on to the next. One reason for this
may be that the needs of the developing individual at
any particular stage may not have been adequately
met in which case there Is frustration. Or possibly the
person’s needs may have been so well satisfied that
he/she us reluctant to leave the psychological benefits
of a particular stage in which there is overindulgence
Both frustration and overindulgence (or any
combination of the two) may lead to what
psychoanalysis call fixation. At a particular
psychosexual stage/
Fixation refers to the theoretical notion that a portion f
the individual’s libido has been permanently “invested
in a particular stage of his development.
8. 1. ORAL STAGE
(Birth to 1 year)
Erogenous Zone : Mouth
During the oral stages, the baby gets much
satisfaction from putting all sorts of things in its
mouth to satisfy the libido, and thus it is
demands.
Which at this stage in life are:
• Sucking
• Biting
• Breastfeeding
9. 7/1/20XX Pitch deck title 9
Freud said oral stimulation could
lead to an oral fixation in later life.
Oral personalities engage in such
oral behaviors, particularly when
under stress.
10. 2. ANAL STAGE
(1 to 3 years)
Erogenous Zone: Anus
During the anal stage the libido
becomes focused on the anus, and
the child derives great pleasure from
defecating. The child is now fully
aware that they are a person in their
own right and that their wishes can
bring them into conflict with the
demands of the outside world.
7/1/20XX Pitch deck title 10
11. 3. PHALLIC STAGE
(3 to 6 years old)
EROGENOUS ZONE: PENIS OR CLITORIS
The child becomes aware of anatomical sex
differences, which sets in motion the conflict between
erotic attraction, resentment, rivalry, jealousy and fear
which Freud called the Oedipus complex (in boys) and
the Electra complex (in girls).
12. Electra Complex
• For girls, the Oedipus or Electra
complex is less than
satisfactory. Briefly, the girl desires
the father, but realizes that she
does not have a penis. This leads
to the development of penis
envy and the wish to be a boy.
Oedipus Complex
• In the young boy, the Oedipus complex or
more correctly, conflict, arises because the
boy develops sexual (pleasurable) desires for
his mother. He wants to possess his mother
exclusively and get rid of his father to enable
him to do so.
• Irrationally, the boy thinks that if his father
were to find out about all this, his father would
take away what he loves the most. During the
phallic stage what the boy loves most is his
penis. Hence the boy develops castration
anxiety.
7/1/20XX Pitch deck title 12
13. 4. LATENCY STAGE
(6 years to puberty)
(little or no sexual motivation present)
During this stage the libido is dormant
and no further psychosexual
development takes place (latent means
hidden).
14. 5. GENITAL STAGE
(Puberty to Adult)
EROGENOUS ZONE: PENIS AND VAGINA
It is a time of adolescent sexual
experimentation, the successful resolution of
which is settling down in a loving one-to-one
relationship with another person in our 20's.
Sexual instinct is directed to heterosexual
pleasure, rather than self-pleasure like during
the phallic stage.
18. 1.ID
Is the primitive and
instinctive component of
personality, including the
sex (life) instinct.
7/1/20XX Pitch deck title 18
19. 2.EGO
The ego develops in
order to mediate between
the unrealistic id and the
external real world. It is
the decision-making
component of personality
10-03-22 19
20. 3. SUPER EGO
It incorporates the values and morals of
society which are learned from one’s
parent and others. It is similar to a
conscience, which can punish the ego
through causing feelings of guilt.
