Histrionic personality disorder

It affects about 2-3% of the general population and disproportionately more women than men. Treatment involves psychotherapy and cognitive therapy to address issues like manipulation of others, unrealistic self-views, and risk-taking behaviors that can lead to depression when relationships end.
Narcissism
Narcissism is a psychological disorder characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance and lack of empathy. While its exact causes are unknown, speculation points to heavy parental pressure to succeed and drug use as common factors. Symptoms include obsessive self-interest, need for attention/praise, exaggerating talents, and being preoccupied with fantasies of power, love, and fame. Treatment involves various forms of psychotherapy like cognitive-behavioral therapy and group therapy, as narcissism is a habitual condition that can take years to address through therapy alone.
Bullying- Young, Adult or Workplace

Society is going through a radical shift in how it views, treats and manages Anxiety, Depression, Suicide Prevention, and Substance Abuse and Addiction. Rapid technological advances are seeing a cross fertilization between the traditional medical sciences of neurology and psychiatry. The traditional approach was that damage to the nervous system resulted in neurological disorders whereas psychiatric disorders involved disturbed behavior and emotional states. Today we know that neurological changes underpin psychiatric disorders as well as mental health and mental illness.
Another huge breakthrough in the neuropsychiatric research findings is the link to Mental Health and Trauma. Childhood Trauma initially focused on physical abuse in the Domestic Violence setting. Gradually, emotional abuse was taken into consideration to address risk and harm. Children and young people were considered at risk in light of such factors as homelessness, refugee and asylum seekers, juvenile justice settings and for those in indigenous communities. The issue of personality disorder and family relationships and breakdown has been ignored.
A personality disorder is a mental health disorder that affects how a person thinks, behaves and relates to others. The Cluster “B” parent has erratic and dramatic emotions and behaviors. Regulating emotions and maintaining healthy relationships is impossible. They are impulsive, low in empathy and low in conscience. They have a need to manipulate, control and disempower others. For family members, specifically their children, this culminates in significant distress and trauma. There is considerable harm to social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and educational development.
Currently, there are almost no resources for children and young adults who have a Cluster “B” parent. The first step to healing is education to understand what, how and why this has happened to them. This SlideShare presentation aims to shed light on such questions as: What happened to me? Am I crazy? Are they the psycho or am I? Why do I feel so depressed/anxious/worthless? Most importantly, the goal is to help towards hope and healing, good mental health, resilience and peace.
Call to Action: Cluster “B” pathology is insidious, pernicious, deliberate and dangerous. These parents have tremendous destructive potential. Harm is hidden behind charm. They impact homes, families, workplaces, relationships and societies. Education is critical for every person in every system caught in the aftermath of dealing with their destruction: mental health, general health, family law, police departments, criminal justice, domestic violence and social service. Recomendações da OMS sobre cuidados maternos e neonatais para uma experiência pós-natal positiva.
Em consonância com os ODS – Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Estratégia Global para a Saúde das Mulheres, Crianças e Adolescentes, e aplicando uma abordagem baseada nos direitos humanos, os esforços de cuidados pós-natais devem expandir-se para além da cobertura e da simples sobrevivência, de modo a incluir cuidados de qualidade.
Estas diretrizes visam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados pós-natais essenciais e de rotina prestados às mulheres e aos recém-nascidos, com o objetivo final de melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar materno e neonatal.
Uma “experiência pós-natal positiva” é um resultado importante para todas as mulheres que dão à luz e para os seus recém-nascidos, estabelecendo as bases para a melhoria da saúde e do bem-estar a curto e longo prazo. Uma experiência pós-natal positiva é definida como aquela em que as mulheres, pessoas que gestam, os recém-nascidos, os casais, os pais, os cuidadores e as famílias recebem informação consistente, garantia e apoio de profissionais de saúde motivados; e onde um sistema de saúde flexível e com recursos reconheça as necessidades das mulheres e dos bebês e respeite o seu contexto cultural.
Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. Estas diretrizes atualizam e ampliam as recomendações da OMS de 2014 sobre cuidados pós-natais da mãe e do recém-nascido e complementam as atuais diretrizes da OMS sobre a gestão de complicações pós-natais.
O estabelecimento da amamentação e o manejo das principais intercorrências é contemplada.

- 2. What is it? •AKA Multiple Personality Disorder •Mood Disorder •Multiple Personality Disorder is a disorder where the individual’s behavior is controlled by two or more separate & distinct personality states •It is a disturbance in identity
- 3. Symptoms •Split Identities •unable to recall key personal information •memory variations with each personality •mood swings, suicidal tendencies •sleep disorders, anxiety/panic attacks/phobias,
- 4. Many people start to suffer from depression Individuals suffering from DID start to experience psychotic-like symptoms, including auditory and visual hallucinations
- 5. • • • Personalities The different identities have their own age, race, and sex They also have their own way of talking The personalities can be animals or imaginary people Types: the host, the protector, the rational one, the angry one, the sexual one, the kids, the suicidal • •
- 6. Causes • No proven specific cause • Psychological theory: Believe that condition develops as reaction to childhood trauma Having a family member with DID can increase the risk •
- 7. Treatment • Psychotherapy is the best treatment-try to help clients improve relationships with others • Expose them to things they have not been comfortable with in the past-prevents the patient from anxiety • Try to stabilize the patient and unite all the personalities
- 8. Treatment • Psychologists also use hypnosis-allows the patient to have a greater control when they change personalities because they know more about their symptoms • Medications-used to treat depression, anxiety, anger, and impulse-control problem • When psychotherapy and medication is not enough, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) can be used
- 9. Treatment • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)-incorporates traumatic memories with patient’s resources-is used as welll • helps with information processing & healing
- 10. Famous People with DID • Herschel Walker-former NFL running back • disorder almost drove him to suicide • has been in treatment for a while, and says the disorder is under control
- 11. Complications of DID • People with DID can end up abusing alcohol or other substances in order to deal with the disorder • Poor relationships • Inability to maintain employment • Violent behavior-may lead to suicide
- 12. Prevention • The only thing that can be done to prevent a person from developing dissociative identity disorder is to keep them away from abusive families • Children should also be treated as early as possible
- 13. How does it feel to have DID?
- 14. Confusion • I am very confused, especially when all of a sudden I become a new person. I do not get it at all.
- 15. Loss of Identity • I feel as if I do not who I am. I have completely changed as a person.
- 16. No Confidence • I do not have any confidence in doing anything anymore. My self-esteem is so low. I feel as though I am worthless.
- 17. Anger • I feel angry a lot of times. I do not have a reason to be angry but I am. Because of this relationships are very hard for me
- 18. Loss of Memory • I often forget many things that happened in the past. It is very frustrating.
- 19. Depressed • Sometimes I do not want anything to do with anyone. I just want to be left alone. I hate life.
- 20. • Having dissociative identity disorder is very frustrating. You never know when you are going to change personalities. You can easily go from being depressed to anger to happy. It is all so confusing. However, therapy does help
