Entry 1 : Extrinsic Motivation
In many movies, most of the directors tend to plot the storyline of an
antagonist in a such a way that his/her behaviour is caused by external
pressure. For example, the reason Caesar in the movie, “Rise of the Planet
of the Apes”, leads a colony of primates and causes chaos to the humans
is due to his bad experience of being misunderstood by hurting his
neighbour instead of saving his caretaker’s dad from being punched.
Caesar’s action is definitely a negative one.
I still managed to recall one of my bad experience in my primary
schooling days. I was one of the innocent and hard-working prefect in my
class and most of the teachers treated me well and there was this ill-
behaved boy called Jason. His seat was just right next behind me and his
partner-in-crime sat beside him. At first, he threw staples at me supplied by
his partner. However, his motives failed (to make me angry) as I managed
to control my emotion. Next, he tore papers from the exercise book and
threw them at me and he did provoke me this time. I scolded him softly as
I didn't want to create a bigger mess. But things turned worst as he started
throwing wet paper ball at me. I felt so helpless as even my friends didn't
think of asking me whether I’m okay or not. I was so provoked that I
punched him in the chest and cried on my table. That action was done to
protect myself from being bullied. The teacher eventually punished him
and informed his parents.
People often say “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” was
definitely right in my case. Sometimes we human are forced to respond to
the external pressure which results in doing things we often would regret
for.

Entry 1 : Mood Congruence Effect
If you want to witness how mood really affects people, please allow
yourself to invest in Bursa Malaysia Equity Market. There’s the place
where you could see how moods affect people. Mood could bring the one’s
worth down to zero or even negative and also double, or even triple one’s
worth. That’s basically the power of mood. We will discuss further about
how mood affects us on remembering certain events.
I was a very naughty kid to my parents but not in school. I was being
scolded very often by my dad and I had got to the point where I hated him
very much but not my mom who is a very kind and soft woman. Whenever
I got scolded by my dad now, I would immediately thought of the past
incidents to make sure it will provoke me so that I could prove that my dad
is wrong in every way. When I was back from Taylor’s University during
semester break, the first word he told me was why I didn't attend certain
classes as he had received the letter from the annoying Taylor’s staff. He
even said that why I was so stupid because I didn't think of asking my
friends who attended the class to get my attendance. I was lazy to explain
to him that the lecturer is smart and strict. So, I hold my anger and
remembered few incidents. One of those is that I was being punished
hardly by him as I didn't study for “Ejaan” during my primary school life.
Maybe he didn't take psychology class as he doesn't understand that the
more you one something the harder for you to achieve it unless you do it
the right way. Obviously, he did nothing correct.
But no matter what happen, whether it’s the end of the world, world war
III is declared or US is having a war with North Korea, he will always be
my dad. Maybe he is just trying to provoke me so that I could be
successful man in life.

Entry 1 : Upward Counterfactual Thinking
“If only” - This two words are so powerful that we human think we could
change the past events outcome simply by using “if only”. “If only I didn’t
confessed to my dream girl who disliked me.” and “If only I had paid
attention during Mr. Shankar class, I would not suffer doing his
assignment.” are the sentences we often heard from the students or said by
the students. “If only” there is “if only”, the world would be at peace.
Back to my Form 3 schooling days, I could still remember vividly the
incident that made me felt like I was a useless kid. In my high school, the
basketball club would organise a 3 on 3 basketball competition annually
and prizes will be given only to the champion and the runner-up. At that
time I was a treasurer of that club as I could handle the money quite well
and the committees trusted me. As a committee were able to take part in
the competition too. So, I teamed up with the vice-president and a
member. Eventually, we lost the competition and it was all caused by
myself. I was so ashamed that I had only scored 2 points per games and
that worse part is it took me 7-9 attempts to score 2 points, that was 12.5%
of chance for me to score. At that point of my life, I felt so useless that I
kept only saying to myself “If only I had trained hard, I would have
become the champion and wouldn’t loose my dignity as a committee.”
The incident took me more than one year to get out from it and live a
better life. We have always forgotten that we are the master of our fate
and the caption of our soul and are often knocked down by obstacles. I
have learnt through the incident not to dwell in the past and be mentally
strong and positive.

Entry 1 : Downward Counterfactual Thinking
I would consider my journey to where I’m today is quite fruitful as those
experiences are so useful to me especially in solving real life problems
where one couldn't learn in the classroom. I realised that the behaviours of
the students in the top classes are completely different from the lower
classes. The smart-asses are often selfish and the underdogs are often the
generous and they are the one you could count on when your car broke
down in the midnight. Trust me, I was a lower class student from standard
one to form three and two years in the top class was enough for me.
I have many friends from “kiasu” to easy-going. When I was at the lower
class, my friends and I wouldn't compete with each other and would be
satisfied if we passed the tests. For example, we always got grade C in
most of the subjects and we thought that we were doing great as we AT
LEAST didn't get D and continue chilling. Even if we got a 40 marks, we
would say to each other luckily I passed the test. The best part was that my
friend who failed his test could even say that AT LEAST he didn't get
ZERO mark hahahahahah. What a good old times. On the other hand, I felt
quite annoyed when I was at the top class. I couldn’t even study in the
classroom as those “kiasus” would say that I was being “kiasu” in fact
there were the one. I had a smart ass friend that behaved in such way that
when he got an 99 for additional mathematic, he would blame himself
hardly for not getting full marks. There one classmate who even cried
when he got an A for the tests.
Sometimes, the result is not the point, it’s not as important as the journey.
During my FNBE Semester 1 project where we had to form a group and
interview a civil engineer. I still remember what he had told us, he said
“Back to my high school years, I studied so hard that I didn’t enjoy myself
in my univerisity life. My friend who didn't study and play all the time is
driving a better car than me.” Papers do not control your life, they control
what teachers think of you.
ALRIGHT THEN!

Entry 1 : The Looking-Glass Self
Do you still remember your first love? Do you still remember how did you
feel when he/she noticed that you peeked on him/her? Do you still
remember that you told your mom to buy you new clothes to attend his/her
birthday party?
Those incidents happened exactly one me and maybe you too? Most of us
care what people think of us and are afraid of being judged by them.
During my primary school life, I fell in love with a girl who is now my
girlfriend. But the journey for me wasn’t as smooth as you think. I was a
short guy and that brought my confidence down very much as my first love
was taller than me. I would always think of how would she think of me,
maybe a munchkin? or a cute munchkin? People say that cute is define as
ugly but adorable. Did she think of me that way? So in order to become
taller, I joined the basketball club and was chosen as their key player.
Initially my goal of joining basketball club is to grow taller, but I ended up
become darker and 1-2 cm tall (no difference at all). So, I was dark, short
and not very handsome at that time. Besides, many guys fell in love with
her including my good friends. At that moment, I imagined myself as the
Beast but a very short one and her as the Beauty. Eventually, I gave up on
approaching her as I was scared of being judged by her which would bring
my confidence down to the earth’s core.
Dramatically, we got together and I strongly believe what those successful
entrepreneurs often emphasis on which is DO NOT CARE ABOUT
WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF YOU, AS LONG AS YOU GET WHAT
YOU WANT, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
