Save the Last Word for Me 
• Begin by reading the text carefully 
• Mark three or four passage that you find 
compelling in some way - you might not 
quite understand them, you might strongly 
disagree, you might think it’s a critical idea 
that you agree with
Save the Last Word for Me 
• Start with the a volunteer 
• Volunteer reads passage 
• Each person in the group has one minute to 
respond to that same passage. Nobody else 
can speak. 
• At one minute, the speaker stops, whether 
done or not.
Save the Last Word for Me 
• Repeat the process for each person on the 
team. 
• Share passage 
• 1 minute response, move to next person 
• 3 minute final response
30 minute break
