For this project, you will: 
 prepare interview questions about academic life at PSU 
 videotape a 7-10 minute interview with a PSU student 
 transcribe (write down) 1 minute of the interview 
 and complete a transcription-analysis handout
PSU Student Interview Project: Steps and dates 
How do I prepare? 
Find a PSU student to interview by Friday, October 10 
Prepare questions for your interview optional: take your questions to the Tutoring Center to 
make sure they are grammatical and clear (any time before your interview) 
Write a draft of the questions you will ask during the interview and bring them with you to 
class on 10/13 
What do I have to do? 
Conduct your interview (This MUST be video recorded, so make sure you have a plan to 
record. (i.e. meeting your interviewee at the Tutoring Center, One-Button Studio, or bringing 
your recording device to a quiet, campus location) 
Choose 1 minute of the recording (that contains interviewer-generated questions) to 
transcribe (write down). This must be typed and should include the time period you have 
transcribed. (i.e. transcription from the video at 1:10-2:10). 
Complete the Transcription Analysis Handout. 
What do I need to submit? 
7-10 minute video recording (Box) 10/24 by midnight 
Typed transcript of 1 minute of your conversation (Box) 10/24 by midnight 
Transcription Analysis Handout (scanned or re-typed) (Box) 10/24 by midnight
How can I find a student to interview? 
 
 First, visit the class you observed and ask a student 
from that class 
 If that doesn’t work, then ask someone on campus 
(HUB, library, etc.) 
 If that doesn’t work, tell me and I will try to set you 
up with someone.


  • 5. PSU Student Interview Project  For this project, you will:  prepare interview questions about academic life at PSU  videotape a 7-10 minute interview with a PSU student  transcribe (write down) 1 minute of the interview  and complete a transcription-analysis handout
  • 6. PSU Student Interview Project: Steps and dates How do I prepare? Find a PSU student to interview by Friday, October 10 Prepare questions for your interview optional: take your questions to the Tutoring Center to make sure they are grammatical and clear (any time before your interview) Write a draft of the questions you will ask during the interview and bring them with you to class on 10/13 What do I have to do? Conduct your interview (This MUST be video recorded, so make sure you have a plan to record. (i.e. meeting your interviewee at the Tutoring Center, One-Button Studio, or bringing your recording device to a quiet, campus location) Choose 1 minute of the recording (that contains interviewer-generated questions) to transcribe (write down). This must be typed and should include the time period you have transcribed. (i.e. transcription from the video at 1:10-2:10). Complete the Transcription Analysis Handout.   • 7. How can I find a student to interview?   First, visit the class you observed and ask a student from that class  If that doesn’t work, then ask someone on campus (HUB, library, etc.)  If that doesn’t work, tell me and I will try to set you up with someone.
