There are four levels of protein structure: 1) Primary structure is the linear sequence of amino acids linked by peptide bonds 2) Secondary structure involves folding due to hydrogen bonds between amino and acid groups, forming structures like alpha helices or beta sheets 3) Tertiary structure is the three dimensional folded structure resulting from attractions and repulsions between the R groups of the amino acids 4) Quaternary structure is the association of two or more protein chains, such as hemoglobin which is composed of four protein chains.
