The Ohio ProStart® Program provides industry training for high school students interested in culinary arts and restaurant management careers. It helps students develop both academic and workplace skills through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and paid work experience. In the 2013-2014 year, the JRC saw high student retention rates, GPAs, and graduation rates among interns and student employees. It also increased diversity among interns and services targeted underrepresented groups.

The 12-month program enhances leadership competencies through challenges and new perspectives to expand abilities. Participants gain practical skills and tools to apply immediately. Board members also planned to provide input on education policies, Medicaid communication, the state budget, and efforts to find common ground on national foster care issues. The OHIO YAB is a statewide organization of youth ages 14-24 who have experienced foster care. Their goal is to influence policies that impact foster youth. Ohio's ESSA Plan requires every school district to identify a single point of contact for students in foster care to coordinate services and support enrollment, attendance, and data sharing.
