Internship ProgramOverviewInternship is a very important component of our program.Internship is done in the spring of the junior year and the fall of the senior year.We have aligned our program with the traditional high schools.Senior dates: Aug. 30-Nov. 19
Program RequirementsStudent has mentor in chosen field of interest.
Student completes 3 hours a week at their mentorship.
Student develops/works on a project while at mentorship and throughout the semester.
Students keep a portfolio of their work and project through out the semester.
Student presents their project in a final presentation here at school or at the mentor’s place of business.Mentor ResponsibilitiesRequired Paperwork: Work with the student to determine their specific responsibilities and/or duties, their schedule and expected dress code during the initial Pre-Field Interview.  Verify intern attendance with your signature on their weekly time log.Evaluate intern performance on the provided evaluation form at the 4 week and 9 week mark.
Mentor ResponsibilitiesMinimum Hours Required:Allow the intern to spend time each week at the work site.  A minimum of 3 hours per week must be completed.Assist students in the development and completion of project chosen for the semester.
Mentor ResponsibilitiesGeneral Role of Mentor:Serve as representative of career or degree area by introducing intern to company, industry, or business.Provide the intern with comprehensive view of organization and focus on the roles, responsibilities, & functions of business.Share information regarding the skills, knowledge, and/or background that are the essential to be successful in your position.Offer opportunities for the intern to do independent projects.Share the positive as well as the negative aspects of the job.Provide supervision or designate someone to oversee intern projects.Assist the intern in identifying realistic goals.Communicate problems to the Internship Program Coordinator.

This is accomplished by combining service tasks with structured opportunities that link the task to self-reflection, self-discovery, and the acquisition and comprehension of values, skills, and knowledge content.
Service Learning OverviewStudents are introduced to Service Learning in their advisory classes.
It is a mandatory requirement of all CHECHS students each year 9th-12th.
The advisory teacher works with students to meet all requirements of Service Learning and all hours are turned in to the advisory teacher.
Requirements and all documentation located on blackboard under Service Learning Org.Service Learning Requirements20 hours completed within the school year.Maximum of 10 of those hours can benefit CHECHS.All 20 can be done outside of CHECHS.Hours due by Dec. 16thPlan approved by advisory teacher.Power Point Presentation to advisory class. NavianceFamily ConnectionWe are pleased to introduce Family Connection from Naviance, a web-based service designed especially for students and parents. Family Connection is a comprehensive website that you can use to help in making decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Family Connection is linked with Counselor’s Office, a service that counselor’s use in their office to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that is specific to our school.
