3. Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, And Jim Parsons
If one would to ask you how Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, and Jim Parsons have
anything in common, the simplest answer besides them all having a name that start
with a J, is that they re among the many actors and actresses that enjoy successful
careers both on stage and on screen. Although film acting differs from stage acting,
the practice can still equip an actorto excel at both. But the point at hand is still at
question, just how do these two different forms of entertainment both come together
with their similarities, but yet separate when it comes to their differences?
Well, for starters, The biggest difference between acting for stage versus acting for
screen is the location of the audience. In a theatre, the stage tends to be far away
from the audience. Depending on the size of the theatre, the actors need to
exaggerate their facial expressions and gestures so even the people towards the
back of the theatre can see what s going on. For example, actors cannot express
sadness with just a single tear onstage, since only the audience members closest to
the stage will see it, leaving everyone else in a world of confusion as to what is
going on right in front of them.
When acting on screen, however, the camera can get extremely close to the actor,
which closes the gap between the audience and the ... Show more content on

For each live theatre performance, actors have just one chance to get thing in order
before they get on stage to perform. That s why it is so important to have a strong
and healthy voice, and to ensure that lines are memorized. Depending on the show or
production budget, microphones may or may not be used during a performance.
Even with a microphone, actors must practice and perform their lines accurately each
time, with crisp diction and clear enunciation. In musicals, actors must get their notes
and lyrics correct on the first try. There are no do overs during a live theatre

5. What Is Frightful Fields Essay
A gloomy, dark, broken, isolated, boring place was known as Frightful Fields.
There stood a land of no happiness where crickets chirp, owls hoot, cries, and
screams were heard. This place was a run down, rough, and dry city which no one
ever strolled on the grounds of. Rats ran on the streets and trash was thrown all
over the roads. The night glared at whoever was outside at anytime. The air always
had a smell of blood in it. Never was there any sun or color. In fact, the city was more
like a slaughterhouse. There were dead bodies in every alley. Scared people all
over the city prayed they would not get killed. People disappearing was quite
common in Frightful Fields. Most of the food here tasted tremendously like a sock.

8. The Concept of Protesting with Non-Violence
The concept of Protesting with Non Violence is to bring some shame to your
oppressor so they can realize the wrong they are doing without violence. Without
violence there is no urge for retaliation only acceptance of friendship. Some felt that
this was a cowardice way to protest, and had to be taught those who resisted it
without fully understanding it. They taught that this method is nonaggressive
physically but strongly aggressive spiritually. It is not meant to humiliate or
challenge the whites, but to win over their friendship, and respect as human beings.
This was a movement awaken the philosophy of love. With this method of
boycotting it involves not only avoiding external aggression, but also internal
aggression on the spirit. To love and accept others who have wronged you, you must
first love yourself. Martian Luther believed that believing in nonviolence means you
believe the universe recognizes injustices and through freewill comically fixes them.
The sit ins were another important part of the movement. The one that started it all
was in North Carolina in Greensboro. These sit ins were very successful they were
the spark that started desegregation. Four college student went into Woolworth for
lunch, and were refused service. So they refused to leave. This act got African
American talking why didn t they stand up and say enough is enough? It was then
they realized segregation only exists because they allowed it to. They had verbally
opposed it, but hadn t
9. The Australian Perception Of Asia
Australia has experienced huge changes in terms of its policy, culture, economy and
races within Australia since a great number of immigrants came to Australia for their
living. Especially Australian relationships with Asia and perceptions of Asia have
shifted over years. Nowadays, Japanese cultures such as comics, animation, languages
and foods are very popular in Australia. However, Asia had been seen through the
label of Orientalism which Said (1977) defined as the basic distinction between East
and West as the starting point for elaborate theories, epics, novels, social descriptions,
and political accounts concerning the Orient, its people, customs, mind, destiny, and
so on (pp.2 3). That is, it is a notion that the West is developed and superior, whereas
the East is exotic and inferior. Today Australia economically incorporates and builds a
good relationship with Asia, although it used to recognise Asians as negative objects
and keep them out. This essay will be examining how the Australian perception of
Asia changed over time, especially looking at its perception of Japan, comparing that
of past and now through the influence of White Australia Policy and multiculturalism.
In addition, I will highlight the central factors of the shifts from three aspects:
economic, security and cultural forces.
Since Australia became a British colony, the white had considered themselves to be
superior to coloured people such as Asians and Indigenous Australians and perceived
10. How Does Kesa Affect Feminism
Kesha Rose Sebert was born March 1, 1987. Growing up Kesha s was raised by a

Kesha recently came out with a new album that screams feminism. She talks about
a lot of different things in each of her songs; most of them which are about staying
strong and be the person that you want to be. In her song Woman , she talks about
how amazing it is to be a women. I have always been a feminist, but for much of

11. My Fitness Test Scores
Throughout physical education class, there were numerous factors that led to the
changes in my fitness test scores. Regarding exercise, I would consider myself to be
an active person throughout the year, which probably led to some improvement in
my results. In school, I participated in physical education class in my 9th and 10th
grade year, which allowed me to apply the principles of specificity and progression.
Physical educationallowed me to get more exercisethrough workouts and games,
which would definitely lead to an improvement in my fitness testing. With school

However, I do not have a job or profession that allows me to exercise because I have
not applied for one. This could lead to a fitness testing score decrease. Additionally,
I do not have a membership at a fitness center because I like to run outside. This is
related to the steady state category because I already run outside of school for
cardiovascular endurance, but I do not work on muscular strength or endurance
since I do not go to a fitness center. Also, the fitness plan I created in my freshman
year was ineffective, as I did not do much of what I was supposed to do. Even
though I did run 300 miles in the summer, I did not do a lot of weightlifting like my
fitness plan recommended. Overall, me not enacting my fitness plan probably led to a
regression in my fitness test scores. Regarding my personal aspect, I would say that I
was pretty neutral throughout my physical education class time. In sports and in
physical education class, I had the drive to get better and work hard, but I could have
been more supportive and encouraging of myself and others, causing me to have a
neutral attitude. This neutral attitude probably represents some back and forth
movement in my fitness
12. Vivaldi s Seasons
Vivaldi s winter one of the amazing parts to Vivaldi s work of art known as Four
Seasons does an outstanding job showing the poetry through the music. He starts
off from the very beginning of the piece with teeth chattering. If you were to take a
look at the poem he is referring to the very first line is Frozen and trembling among
the chilly snow . Vivaldi demonstrates these actions by using fierce, fast, and high
pitched sounds all throughout the piece. He then continues to demonstrate the
second line around the one minute and thirty second mark by using a violin to
demonstrate the Horrid Winds (line 2 Stanza 1). The violin is played to an allegro
tempo and by being played in such a manner; it gives off this cold, dark,... Show more

These things continue till you reach the three minute and fifteen second mark. At
this particular point in the piece you hear legs tremble with cold (line 3 stanza 1);
you also hear the teeth chatter with the frightful cold (line 4, stanza 1). Then as
you get closer to the three minute and a half mark the allegro tempo seems to slow
down and three minutes and thirty three second Vivaldi takes a full measure of
rest which could be portrayed as line 5 in stanza 2. Line five in stanza two clearly
states We move to the fire and contented peace . The rest was intentionally put into
the piece in order to emphasize the contentment. At the five minute mark, you hear
the tempo of the harmony speed up a little bit which could emphasize walking
which is taking place in lines seven and eight in stanza 2. Stanza three lines nine
through eleven is clearly shown at the seven minute forty seconds mark. The
harmony is dark, yet the melody is light like the snow. He used instruments to give
the listener a circular motion feeling which shows that he is emphasizing the fall to
earth (line 9 stanzas 2). At the very end of the piece he speeds the tempo back up to
allegro and ends with

and disadvantages of using equity capital and debt capital to finance a small
business s growth. The advantages of Debt is financing allows you to pay for new
buildings, equipment and other assets used to grow your business before you earn
the necessary funds. This can be a great way to pursue an aggressive growth
strategy, especially if you have access to low interest rates. Closely related is the
advantage of paying off your debt in installments over a period of time. Relative to
equity financing, you also benefit by not relinquishing any ownership or control of
the business. Interest on the debt can be deducted on the company s tax return,
lowering the actual cost of the loan to the company. Raising debt capital is less
complicated because the company is not required to comply

I have yelled, whispered, written and even thought this simple sentence a million
times in my life. For as long as I could remember, I ve always hated reading.

Why?
It was a waste of time.
I craved experiences and figuring things out on my own. Reading got in the way of
that. So I did my best to avoid reading as much as possible. But it wasn t easy, the
older I got the harder it was to get around reading.

my favorites is Ryan Holiday s Reading Recommendation List, it s completely free.
Every month Ryan posts an update about the books he read and recommends that
month. I also write down books that are mentioned in other books, and add them to
my list. So inevitably, when I check off a book from that list, I add several more,
never making any headway on the list, but that excites me.
It lets me know that there is always more to learn, more to gain, more to be added to
my life.
In all likelihood, the list will never stop growing. But it s not something that has to
be accomplished. It s something to experience, to take in, digest, and explore
through your own eyes. I now believe there is something to be taken from each
book. Something that can be applied to your life, either as something to embrace
and weave into your personal fabric or something that perhaps you see in yourself
that needs to be eliminated for a better you. Or perhaps the book just offers another
opinion, a different angle on a question, event, or experience for you to consider to

17. Analysis Of David Lynch s Blue Velvet
David Lynch s Blue Velvet is an illustration of a fantasy world full of seduction,
desire and death. It explores the corrupted desires of society, while counterbalancing
between its subconscious and social world. The film disrupts all nostalgic knowledge
we have of American suburbia by juxtaposing the fluidic norms of genderand
socioeconomic roles. As well as evoke neurotic notions of masculinity. However the
construction of women being used as agents to the physical and social desires of
men, create an empirical judgment on the perpetuance of male dominance and their
ability to comply with societal rules. When examined from this logic, the men in
Blue Velvet are constantly seen and shown as aggressors, and perpetrators of women
s demise. The film begins by vividly painting American suburbia through the
depiction of their socioeconomic archetypes. Within the opening credits, the
audience is welcomed by the neighborhood fireman waving to his surrounding
neighbors, the blocks crossing guard safely crossing the children across the street,
the morning s blue sky looking down onto a white picked fence and blooming red
tulips reaching up high. The film vividly paints life in suburbia. Then suddenly we
see a manbeing struck by natural causes, and a woman who is glued to her television
unaware of her surrounding world. The climax of the film begins by establishing the
protagonist, Jeffery s fatalities, and establishes his predestined journey into
complying into societies

20. Fanfare For The Common Man Analysis
Emily Rush March 22, 2016 MUS 303 Final Project Fanfare for the Common Man:
Aaron Copland Fanfare for the Common Man immediately draws the listener in with
the beginning with a forceful crash on the tam tam and sharp timpani and bass drum
hits. The resonance within the Royal Albert Hall, London contributed to the overall
sound and effectiveness especially with the solo timpani strikes at the beginning. The
listener waits in anticipation of the brass section to enter, feeling as though the
percussion introduction is much longer than it is in reality. After the percussion
introduction, the trumpets state the main theme. After the first statement of the main
theme, the French horns join in creating a fuller texture. Throughout the piece, the
brass sections continue to layer with each other in different combinations each time.
Sometimes one section would begin playing the theme, and a few beats later another
section would join in creating a feeling of a round. Throughout the piece, the brass
plays the theme in alteration with the timpani and tam tam. Although the theme is
simple, together they create a long musical idea. The overall dynamic of the brass
grows throughout creating a sense of power especially when... Show more content on

Research about the work describes it as American and even patriotic. The open
fifth and fourth intervals represent a pioneer mentality much like in Appalachian
Spring. Fanfare for the Common Man is representative of Copland s conservative
style much like the Appalachian Spring Suite Simple Gifts. Speaking somewhat to
the American/patriotic affiliation of the work, there is a recording of the piece
from November 14, 2000 in the Coolidge Auditorium in the Library of Congress
records. The original manuscript is also available on the Library of Congress website

21. The Lesson Of The Muhlenberg Lesson Plan
I will readily admit that I waited for the right lesson to compare to the Muhlenberg
Lesson Plan. Finding all the elements of the Muhlenberg Lesson Plan in lessons
throughout all of my fieldwork experiences would be difficult because for the most
part teachers do not seem to do set induction or closure. I chose to do my comparison
on a Macbethlessonin Mrs. Butterbaugh s tenth grade co taught class. This was
strictly an observed lesson, as Mrs. Butterbaugh does not do formal lesson plans.
The unit title could be Renaissance Literature: Macbeth. It would work well as a
comparison to the former unit on Medieval literature focused on Oedipus Rex. In
my future class, I would do some activity to compare the two. The lesson title could
be Influencing Macbeth: Act I and Act II. It was presented loosely as a two part
lesson, making connections in the second act to who is the strongest influence over
Macbeth and how his guilt begins to play a role in his downfall; this knowledge base
can be utilized throughout the rest of the playto scaffold the students toward Macbeth
s fatal flaw. The Pennsylvania State Standards and Common Core Standards cited
would probably be:

22. The Ten Year Cultural Revolution
The ten year Cultural Revolution, in essence, was a political power struggle inside
of the CCP, and as Mao died on September 9 1976, the Gang of Four was arrested
soon on October 10. Since Mao s successor Hua Guofeng was politically weak, Deng
Xiaoping came back to power. Though the new leaders tried to help China recover
from the revolution and rebuild the economic systems, the influences of the
revolution did not vanish quickly. The Party had to deal with the mistakes that Mao
made during the revolution, make the resolution on the revolution, and formulated
the new road that the country should follow. Other than the political struggles that the
Party faced, the society also created troubles. The intellectuals, especially the sent
down youths who illegally came back to cities, were excited and looking forward to a
democratic government, and they again started to criticize the government and
commented on the politics just like their predecessors did in the Hundred Flowers
Campaign. However, this situation did not satisfy Deng, who emphasized that the
correct line for China was to insist the absolute principle of the Party (Meisner, 457),
and he then decided to consolidate his power. In general, though Cultural Revolution
ended, the political struggles that it represented never stopped, and would be
continued for years. Meinser points out that Mao did construct the country and lead
its people to reach many striking successes, including building a modern nation state,
23. Penis Enlargement Research Paper
penis enlargement
Is Penis Envy Real?
Penis enlargement is the cornerstone of male enhancement. As the concept grows in
popularity, scientists, researchers, and physicians have begun to explore the reasons
behind the popularity. Most often, men wish to improve their confidence, especially
in the bedroom. Current studies are now finding that men may be seeking to improve
their penis size because of a subconscious factor that is not widely recognized.
Is Penis Envy Really the Cause of Penis Enlargement Popularity?
Before that question can be answered, we must first acknowledge that penis envy not
only exists, but it is natural and common. Whether they wish to admit it or not, men
are constantly comparing themselves to others. It is an inherent ... Show more content

In truth, the urge to continue to measure ourselves against others remains just as
strong, but there is a stigma associated with staring at another persons manhood.
Is Penis Envy at Fault for You?
If you are a man who is seriously considering penis enlargement, do you understand
your own motivations? Many men simply jump into the procedure without truly
knowing themselves and what their subconscious desires are. It is normally in these
instances that penis enlargement goes awry, and is not as effective. If you are not
sure why you wish to enlarge your penis, you need to spend some time being honest
with yourself and your needs. Penis enlargement is a real commitment, a lengthy
procedure, and something which cannot be taken lightly.
The Most Common Reasons for Penis Enlargement
Size is not the only issue men deal with, but also shape. The condition known as
Peyrione s Disease is not incredibly common, but still affects many men. Those who
suffer from this disease often have a penis that is misshapen. Men tend to view this
as the equivalent of a deformity, and want to correct the issue to improve their
sexual please as well as their self
24. Nonverbal Communication
NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION
Nonverbal Communication Techniques for Acing Interviews
Personal Hygiene
Shower, brush your teeth, comb/style your hair, use deodorant, and avoid using
excess cologne or perfume.
You want to be properly groomed in order to make a positive first impression and
show the interviewer you re serious about the job. Many people are sensitive or
allergic to specific or strong scents, and not using excessive amounts of cologne or
perfume demonstrates that you are aware of this.
Dress Professionally
Research the company s dress code so you can dress appropriately. If you can t find
anything about a dress code (or if the company doesn t have one), use your best
judgement to determine what might be appropriate attire for the company.
How you dress says a lot about how serious you are about an interview. It s
important to dress for the job you want; if your goal is to work in an office or
business environment, wearing street clothes will not help you achieve that goal.
It s important to remember that professional attire for an interview at a retail chain
like Walmart or Canadian Tire would look different from one at a bank or insurance
company.
Handshaking Etiquette
Prior to the interview, keep your hands open in order to prevent them becoming
overly sweaty. Keep a tissue in your pocket to discreetly dry your hands if necessary.
Sweaty hands could indicate to the interviewer that you are nervous.
Offer a greeting before and during the handshake. The
25. Religious Stereotypes In The Film, Black Robe
The film, Black Robe, depicts the first contacts between the Huron Indians of Quebec
and the Jesuit missionaries from France who came to convert them to Catholicism.
Despite some of the controversial portrayals in the film, much of what was produced
represented both the Huron and Jesuit perceptions of one another; the Black Robe
displayed both the Jesuit frustrations with the Natives unwillingness to learn about
Christianity and the Huron social mocking of the black robes . Portraying the
religious, social, and economic interactions, the film, complemented by the journal of
Le Jeune, Bruce Trigger s book The Jesuits and the Fur Trade, and Neal Salisbury s
writings in Religious Encounters in a Colonial Context, gives a convincing
portrait of both the Natives and the Jesuits side of the encounter. Black Robe
centers around the religious mission of French Jesuits in the New World,
particularly the Huron Mission in New France. This focus allows us to see how
accurately the religious characters were portrayed. For the French many of the
religious interactions involved Laforgue, a Jesuit missionary on his way to help the
Huron Mission and commonly known to the natives as Black Robe . Laforgue,
though tries to respect the Natives ideas as much as possible particularly near the
end of the film, continuously tries to convert them. This presents a level of
unwillingness to accept Natives way of life, which is also seen in Le Jeune s Journal
when he describes the Natives Shamen as
26. Analysis Of Into The Wild By Chris Mccandless
A man by the name of Chris Mccandless ran away from his home at the age of 22 to
live a life in the wilderness of Alaska where he eventually died due to starvation.
Written by Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild was a book about the journey of Chris
Mccandless and how he met his fate. Chris was born into a wealthy family in
Virginia and was living what most people would call the American Dream.
However, Chris Mccandless contradicted that notion and was not happy with his
life; as a result he ran away. He was not happy with his life in Virginia because he was
sick of his life filled with materialistic items and wanted to hide from all of them.
Also, his parents were abusive so he wanted to get as far away from them as possible.
Lastly, he was living a filtered life in his wealthy town and Chris wanted to run
away from his privileged life and see the real world. Chris ran away from home
because he was not happy with his life there, wanted hide from his family, and
wanted to hide from the norms of society. Chris Mccandless was sick of his life
filled with materialistic items because he did not believe that more things make
for a happier life; because of this he hid from all of his possessions and lived with
what he could carry on his back. Chris expressed this belief with his family when
he said that he will no longer give or accept gifts. He did this because he believed
that more items does not make a person happier. However, in opposition to Chris s
beliefs, his parents

I chose to compare the United Arab Emirates to Panama because both countries are
experiencing significant economic growth even though many countries are
experiencing problems with the economy. Both countries are located in close
proximity to important regional waterways. The United Arab Emirates has the Straits
of Hormuz, while Panama has the Panama Canal. The Strait of Hormuz is a
waterway between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by Iran,
United Arab Emirates, and Oman Musandam Peninsula. About 20% of all the world s
petroleum passes through the Strait of Hormuz. At its narrowest, it is 21 nautical

Since 2008, the economy of the United Arab Emirates has been steadily increasing.
In 2012, the economy of the United Arab Emirates grew 4.4%. Panama also is
experiencing a period of significant economic growth. Over the past year, the
economy of Panama grew 10%, putting Panama as one of the fastest growing
economies in the Latin American as well as in the world. I believe the reason for
such significant economic growth in both countries is mainly due to import/export
of goods through the waterways located by each country. United Arab Emirates had
imports totaling 273.5 billion dollars and exports totaling 314 billion in 2012.
Panama s imported goods totaled 26.61 billion dollars and exported goods totaled
18.87 billion dollars in 2012.
The top five products exported from the United Arab Emirates are crude petroleum,
refined petroleum, gold, petroleum gas, and raw aluminum. The top exported
product is crude petroleum which accounts for approximately 44% of all exported
goods. The top five imported products are jewelry, refined petroleum, broadcasting
equipment, cars, and computers. The top imported good is jewelry, which accounts
for approximately 8.1% of all imported goods. The top five products exported from
Panama are antibiotics, refined petroleum, passenger and cargo ships, packaged
medicaments, and crude petroleum. Antibiotics is the top exported good accounting
for approximately 28% of all exported goods. The top five products imported into the

28. The Bean Trees By Barbara Kingsolver Essay
In The Bean Trees, Barbara Kingsolver uses characters and symbols to show that
families are not genetically made up, rather built from love and support. As
Kingsolver establishes the dynamic roles of Taylor Greer upon meeting Turtle and
Lou Ann Ruiz throughout the novel, she also includes the symbolic significance of
the rhizobia to illuminate the message of The Bean Trees.
Kingsolver structures Taylor s dynamic behaviors in ways that explain the definition
of family. She appeals to the reader that Taylor s conservative yet caring personality
allowed her to determine what an abandoned Indian child means in her life.
Kingsolver incorporates this shift of personality in order to appeal to the reader
that a loving family isn t made up of genes rather love and care. When Taylor left
Kentucky, she carried the goal of avoiding pregnancy or, in another word, family
along with her. Taylor described herself as useless, (81) and considered herself
crazy to think that whisking Turtle away from the Cherokee Nation was doing her a
favor (81). Taylor thought one s well being was impacted by no other but blood
relatives, similar to how Taylor s confidence and self esteem were high due to her
mother s praises, even if they weren t truthful. Taylor always accepted her mother s
praises because she thought her mother was always right (236). Likewise, she d
thought Turtle s development would nourish better from the nurture of her birth
relatives. However, Taylor later realizes the impact
29. Human Genetics
Human Genetics
Introduction
This paper reviews two interesting articles related to human genetics. Dr. Nestor
Morales, Assistant Professor of Psychology at New York City College of
Technology at City University of New York, presents the idea that since human
cloning is inevitable, an understanding of the psychological aspects of this
development need to be addressed. The second article to review is found in the
European Child Adolescent Psychiatry; it relates to the genetic link from a parent that
has ADHD or ASD (autism spectrum disorder), to the high percentage that the child
from that parent may also be diagnosed with one of those disorders.
Psychological Aspects of Human Cloning
Dr. Morales explains that because the public believes a human clone will not be a
new individual that is genetically unique, this has created serious fears about the
potential of human cloning (Morales, 2009, p. 43). In fact, Morales goes on, the
public suffers from clonophobia due to the fear and ignorance regarding the potential
of human cloning. Critics of human cloning assert that there will be serious
psychological problems for children that are cloned due to issues including identity
formation, identification, gender identity, individuality and lack of originality
(Morales, 43). In addition, those opposed to human cloning suggest that cloned
humans В¦may not have the necessary traits to become truly independent from their
progenitors (Morales, 43).

banks, which makes it a unique investment bank not just a commercial bank simply

in the field of syndicated finance, while remain influential in other areas.

opportunities in regards to the development of Hong Kong Disney. Although there
were many risks and costs involved with the large project, they saw the choice of
entering into syndication as an opportunity to expand their operations. Chase saw
opportunity to not only help advance their syndication status but to help Hong Kong
boost their economy due to the recent recession. As a result of the Disneyland Paris
downturn in sales, Hong Kong Disney took on the opposite approach, a more
conservative capital structure, which along with the government commitment to the
project enhanced Chase s decision to back the project. The government knew that the
tourism industry and employment rate needed a boost and to enable

How will you feel after gaining back the weight you spend money toward? Well,
Fad diets have been around for a very long time, based mostly on half truths and
wishful thinking of the authors. Some may have a bit of science to back them up,
but the diets are so restrictive and difficult, no one can stick to them. Losing
weight temporarily on a fad diet does not equal success. Diet success is defined as
keeping that weight off permanently. If a fad diet is impossible to follow for very
long, you ll just re gain all the weight. And much of the weight lost on extremely low
calorie fad dietsis water. UCLA associate professor of psychology and lead author
Traci Mann said You can initially lose 5 to 10 percent of your weight on any number

Their Eyes Were Watching False Gods I am the Lord your God, you shall not have

Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, we see many cases of false
worship and idolatry. Characters in this book worship things like their own power,
the different social hierarchies like race, sex, and class, and even challenge the
strength of God. In the novel, Hurston uses the worship of false gods to show the
battle of God versus Man, and to prove that God is more powerful.
The first time the worship of false gods really appears in this story is through the
main character Janie s second husband, Joe. Joe becomes a powerful mayor in the

34. Jackie Robinson And The Civil Rights Movement
In the pre dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, the 1940s were rife with racial
tension. Nearly all public institutions were segregated. Libraries, schools,
transportation, the armed forces. Sports teams were just as rigorously divided into
two sects the Negro leagues and the major leagues. There was no question about
which division a black man would play for. Nobody dared cross the rift between
whites and blacks; they were too afraid. Eventually, however, all it took was one man
to begin breaking down the barrier. Jackie Robinsons time in baseball s major leagues
broke color lines and brought about significant social changes both on and off the
field. Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia.
His parents, Mallie and Jerry Robinson, were from poor sharecropping families and
had four other children Willa Mae, Edgar, Frank, and Matthew Mack (who later
became a silver medalist at the 1936 Summer Olympics). When Jackie, the
youngest, was barely one year old, his father left the family. Mallie Robinson
moved her children from Cairo to a relatively poor neighborhood in Pasadena,
California. Jackie Robinson was often excluded from activities and spent a short
time in a gang (he was persuaded to abandon it by a friend). In 1935, Robinson was
enrolled at John Muir High School, where he was inspired by his athletic older
brothers to play sports. Soon he was playing at varsity level in many events,
including football, baseball, and track and field. He

Upon arrived to TALA, I was greeted by an astonishing monumental architecture.
The symmetry of the building was elegant and well complimented by its weathered
look. It is difficult to imagine that this very building had once housed the mentally
ill. I had never seen such a facility before and thus expected something less
remarkable. As I stood admiring the building, I noticed the multitude of windows
it contained. Upon further examination, I noticed the bars surrounding them and
suddenly realized that the illusion of paradise was in reality a prison for those who
dwelled here. I was surprised to learn how many people were housed in this
building and likewise shocked to discover what passed as mentally insane during
the 19th century. The criteria used to determine mental illness were nonexistent and
arbitrary. I was extremely concerned when the tour guide mentioned kids being
born and raised in TALA. It was also distressing to learn that people who didn t
quality as having mental problems were also placed into such a facility. In contrast,
it was interesting to learn that the community had openly embraced TALA as part of
their home to the extent that a high school prom was held inside the building. This
helped me to recognize that TALA was more than just an insane asylum, it was truly
home to those living inside and outside its walls. As I progressed through the tour, I
discovered that I was unaware of the many practices of insane asylums, especially the
methods used in

Marketing Your Business Paper
Introduction
Every successful marketing plan has one thing in common, structure. Creativity
among structure can prove to be quite beneficial for a business, such as Kudler Fine
Foods, while traveling down that road to financial success and longevity. Within that
research, or plan, one must collect, organize, and jot down any and all data pertaining

42. Through The Tunnel Symbolism
The short story Through the Tunnel by Doris Lessing is full of symbolism about the
transition out of childhood. Doris accomplishes this by writing about a young boy
named Jerry and his journey swimming through the tunnel. During this difficult
transition the main character gains the tools he will need during adulthood. Lessing
uses symbolism abundantly in Through the Tunnel to emphasize on the theme of the
transition from childhood to adulthood.
In the exposition, Jerry and his mother are on vacation at a beach. As they walk to
the safe bay, Jerry is caught staring at the wild beach. And yet, as he ran, he looked
back over his shoulder at the wild bay; and all morning. . . he was thinking of it. (Pg.
30) This symbolizes Jerry dreaming of adulthood.
The next day Jerry goes to the wild bay, where he meets some natives. To be with
them, of them, was a craving that filled his whole body. (Pg. 30) When Jerry sees
those in adulthood, he becomes filled with a desire to join them, but when he does
they unconsciously exclude him. . . . and they proceeded to forget him. But he was
happy. He was with them. (Pg.31) Jerry appears not to mind. Slowly, Jerry begins to
realize he is very different from the adults. They were big boys men, to Jerry. (Pg.31)
After some time the adult portion of the group easily does something that ... Show

Jerry does this in the rising action by acquiring tools he will need for the transition
and learning how to use them. I want some swimming goggles. (Pg.32) As Jerry gets
ready for his transition he sees the beauties of adulthood, but not the pain. A few
inches above them the water sparkled as if sequins were dropping through it. (Pg.32)
At times during Jerry s transition he rushes it and ends up hurting himself, especially
after he sees the beauty. That night, his nose bled badly. . . now he felt weak and
dizzy. . . Again his nose bled that night.
43. Portability Of The Electrical Hardware Housing Structure...
Portability
Many properties of our prototype contributed to its portability. The electrical
hardware housing structure for our prototype measured in at 7.375 x 6.375 x 5.000 ,
which allowed for a small yet fully functional device. These relatively small
dimensions allowed us to easily transport our prototype without concern of having to
make accommodations for its size. Our prototype was composed of simple PVC
plastic sheets. We cut these sheets to the desired dimensions and attached them using
bent aluminum sheet metal. We used 6 32 threaded nuts and bolts to fasten the metal
angle brackets to the PVC sheets. This combination of materials and fasteners used to
create the housing structure for our electrical components made for a strong, yet
lightweight prototype. This strength allowed for our structure to be free standing and
added a component of durability without adding to the size or weight significantly.
Also, this housing structure contained all of our wires and components meaning that
there were no extraneous pieces protruding from the structure. This uniform structure
kept components from getting snagged by outside materials during transport. By
producing the prototype from these materials at the given dimensions, we were able
to create a prototype structure that displayed durability, strength, and functionality
while remaining quite portable.

44. Difference Between Action And Comedy
There is a very fine line between action movies and comedies. The two genders can
be interchangeable if the correct script comes handy. The situations in which an
action hero can create a comedy are immense there is always room for some jokes
between the action. This is an example of how to melt these two genres correctly
without damaging the action or comedyin a film. Despite having solid field training,
CIA analyst Susan Cooper has spent her entire career as a desk jockey, working

would be great. She has managed to make each of her movies as fun as she can. She

45. Tequila Scene Baby Driver
Baby Driver Tequila Scene Analysis
Baby Driver follows the adventures of a young man, Baby, who serves as a
getaway driver for heists. Baby has tinnitus, a hearing condition that produces a
constant ringing, so he plays music in his headphones for a large portion of the film.
The scene I m addressing takes place before the third heist of the film, as the group is
headed to one of Doc s contacts to pick up weaponry. In this scene, director Edgar
Wright utilizes sound effects and shot editing to effectively engage the viewer and
deliver the narrative.
The first time Wright manipulates filmmaking tools for effect occurs when Bats asks
Baby to put something funky on his iPod. As Baby scrolls through his songs, the
viewer hears the scrolling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song, Tequila, which plays softly overhead throughout the scene, begins to play
much louder after Bats fires the first bullet. The synchronization between the sound
of the song and the moving images is seamless, giving pause as to whether the
scene was designed for the song and not vice versa. Every single shot in the scene
coincides with the noise in the song. Wright needs to utilize every noise conceivable
to help sync the noise with the action, and uses a variety of match on action to unlock
new noises. One example of this occurs as a man is attempting to escape the
bloodshed in a car, and the scene cuts from him getting into the car to the jingle of his
keys as he attempts to start the car. Different pitches throughout the song are
coordinated with carefully chosen events. The rapid fire of a machine gun matches a
drum solo, a grenade lads perfectly in a cup holder to coincide with the note of a
trumpet, even the whoosh that occurs when Baby slides for cover behind a crate falls
in perfect synchronization with the beat. Rather than using different pitches between
song and action to distinguish them, Wright blends them together. Although
unconventional, this makes the scene both fluid and aesthetically pleasing. The
excited timbre, or tone, of the overhead sound adds to the chaos and confusion as
bullets echo throughout the warehouse. The rapid cuts from one shot to the next
matches the energy of the gunfight, with each shot displaying a close view of action
and allowing the on screen noise to consistently match the loudness of the song itself.
This slightly decreases the notion that we are truly hearing things from Baby s
perspective, but allows for a more fluid presentation of

The economic benefit of the gambling industry is enormous. The Gambling industry

Use of Power by the Police Historically police were not limited to laws which
prohibited bad behavior and/or corruption such as, curbside justice which entailed
police beating citizens with nightsticks especially targeting racial minorities. With a
lack of organizational control, inefficiencies and disorganization the courts,
legislatures and U.S. Constitution stepped in creating retrains on the power of
government agencies with what is referred to as the rule of law . The two examples

49. Three Examples of Genocide Essay
From the time humans existed, hatred seemed to be the dominant trait that
possessed the souls of men. It was inevitable emotions could provoke people to
engage in acts without thinking; but it was the acts that were premeditated which
were classified as evil and brutal. A. M. Rosenthal, the author of No News From
Auschwitz, described a single moment in history where these kinds of acts were
invoked. This appalling endeavor is known as genocide which is the deliberate
destruction of a national, racial or a religious group
(Winston Dictionary). Genocide is universal rather than limited to one time and one
group of people. The Catholics in Ireland were being threatened and eliminated by the
Puritans. The typical Irish lifestyle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During 1915 and 1916, one and a half million Armenians were killed. The Armenian
Genocide was masterminded by the Central Committee of the Young Turk Party
(Armenian
Genocide). The extermination of the Armenians occurred in a systematic fashion.
First the Armenians in the army were disarmed, placed into labor battalions and then
killed. Then the Armenian political and intellectual leaders were rounded up on April
24, 1915, and killed. Finally, the remaining Armenians were called from their homes
and told they would be relocated ... and then marched off to concentration camps ... in
the desert ... would starve and thirst to death in the burning sun (Armenian Genocide).
To this present day, the
Turkish Government denied these allegations. They claimed the Armenians were
only removed from a war zone. The leaders of the Young Turk Government were
found guilty of carrying out the killing by a secret network (Armenian Genocide).
The decision to eradicate the Armenians was not an impulsive decision, but the result
of extensive and profound deliberations (Armenian Genocide). In the case with
China, genocide resulted in the extermination of the newly born female infants. Since
ancient times, the Chinese have regarded the males to be precious and more
prestigious than the females. The birth of a boy signifies wealth, prosperity and luck
(Chow). The Chinese Government recently passed a law which limited the

religions of China: Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism; which started 5,00 years

Chinese culture was highly influenced by the sage Lao Zi over 2,500 years ago in

51. Our Lives are Crowded with Products
Nowadays markets are crowded with products of different types and needs.
Companies produce tons of food and clothes, and thousand of cars every day. New
models of products are issuing faster than previous generation of it becomes old. For
example, Apple Corporation issues new iPhones every year despite of the fact that
previous models are still good for use. This huge amount of new products requires a
huge amount of advertising. As a consequence, our everyday life is surrounded with
different kinds of advertising. We see ad on the streets when we walk out our dog,
we see listen it on the radio while driving our cars coming back from a job, we see
it in our favorite magazines and newspapers. A flow of advertising from all sources
of media bombards our attention. Big corporations claim that they know what
product is better for us. They manipulate our feelings; by playing with people desire
of financial success, social power and, the most important, freedom and
independence. This can be seen by analyzing a random advertising from a random
magazine. In this advertisement in TIME magazine, TOYOTA targets young adults,
middle working class professionals, who want fast and powerful car without
spending much money on gas. It appeals to audience s desire by repeating TOYATA
s brand and through direct and indirect messages conveyed by words and images.
TOYOTA Camryad targets men or women in the age range between eighteen and,
probably, middle or late twentieth who wants ride fast,
52. Miss Label Stereotypes Essay
Everyone on the face of the planet knows what it is like to be labeled or stereotyped
or placed in category based on appearance, social status, or really anything
imaginable. Even if a person lacks the specific understanding of stereotyping, they
certainly feel the sting resulting from perverse judgement based on minute details
such as appearance, interests, nationality, etc. It seems the time stereotypes reach
their height of power is during teenage years, possibly due to the nature of the time,
being one of self exploration and discovery. In general (look at that! An example of
stereotyping and generalization), teenagers tend to identify against the other in order
to establish their own identities. Unfortunately, this process involves creating tight
little boxes for every individual to fit neatly into. Although it is easy to acknowledge
the complex fluidity and elasticity of humanidentity, very few people successfully
avoid the provocative grasps of stereotypes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

there is no escaping stereotypes. People label everyone; perhaps it is simply human
nature to classify and divide ourselves; perhaps it is a more Machiavellian truth about
the innate desire in humans to cause other pain by harshly judging them. (I tend to
believe it lies more on the human nature side, but it is debateable.) Stereotypes and
labels exist all throughout human life, but viewing them at the teenage scale helps to
explain the impossibility of escaping placement into a tiny, neat societal

Over the Cuckoo s Nest was a critically acclaimed novel written by Ken Kesey and
later on a movie adaptation, directed by Milos Forman, which was similarly
critically acclaimed earning itself an extremely high 96% on rotten tomatoes.
However said appraisal of both works, does not excuse the gleaming errors and
artistic licensing seen throughout the entirety of the film. Granted there were no
major plot holes and alterations present, the physical descriptions of the various
characters within the story as well as their behavior differed quite a bit from their
silver screen counterparts. The most critical physical and behavioral differences can

5) Kesey throughout the novel repeatedly gives the character of Nurse Ratched a
almost robotic feel, but Forman felt that a different take on her character was
appropriate so, The Nurse Ratched that the viewer is greeted with on the big

stepmother stereotype popularized by many Disney movies (such as snow white s
evil stepmother), Forman s portrayal of the Nurse although was different than the
book both physically the mentally, her actress Louise Fletcher still did a
exemplary job portraying the dark bitter women that the Nurse (at the core) really

elements of cruelty. Yet the Nurse was not alone on this metamorphosis of traits,
the protagonist s McMurphy as well has been subjected to extreme artistic

McMurphy is described as being large bobbling , obnoxious, overly social/talkative

though he is shown to be a blabbermouth at time, he does not give of the impression

54. Social Conformity Research
Social influence is a huge factor in human life; the psychology behind it focuses on
how an individual is susceptible to behavioural and attitudinal change when in a
social environment. People can be influenced majorly by the actions, opinions and
general presence of others and there are psychological reasons for this. One piece of
research that supports why people are influenced by others is the study of
conformity. Conformity is a type of social influence that results in a person changing
his or her own behaviour and attitude because of the real or imagined influence of
others. Conformity can be separated into three groups, as proposed by Herbert
Kelman in 1958; these are compliance, internalisation and identification. Compliance

This is when a person simply accepts the information given to them by others in
order to justify their own beliefs. Informational influence usually takes place in
situations where an individual has to choose a track to follow, for example in a
crisis. It is human instinct to observe the reactions of others as acting in a similar
manner helps us to feel secure. An example of informational influence in crisis is
the Orson Welles War of the Worlds radio broadcast in 1938. An individual who is
conforming, because of internalisation, usually tend to believe in the others ideas
more than their own and because of this, they not only comply to behaving in a
certain way around them but also try to change their own attitude in private
circumstance too. The third type of conformity is identification, which takes place
when a person wants to gain a certain identity for him or herself. An individual may
want to be associated with a particular person or a group and so may feel the need to
act in a certain way. Identification is sometimes considered by psychologists as a mix
between compliance and internalisation; the individual accepts that the group hold
the correct beliefs and behavioural manners, which is internalisation, but are doing
this in order to gain acceptance and approval, which is
