Working Title:
JODI – my name without an ‘e’ – looks French and Paris, France is an important hub for the
fashion industry.
Audience:
My magazine is for people who are interesting in fashion and making statements. The age
demographic is teenagers, to give them an insight on what their fashion can do for their confidence
and image. However, it can also appeal to adults who want to increase their knowledge of fashion
and their wardrobe. The statement aspect of fashion could entice some people who struggle to
express themselves to do so through fashion. There isn’t a certain gender that will be attracted to
this magazine – it will be for all because it doesn’t matter about gender stereotypes, the fashion
and context is what that matters most. There isn’t a certain class that my magazine will entice, I
will make sure it is suitable for all people, no matter social or financial status.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have developed my Photoshop skills and have played around with titles, layering orders and
drawing on the page with a graphics tablet. I found these easy to figure out and it helped my
practice cover cleaner and more professional. The photo used is also an important aspect, as the
pose that the model is doing can effect the layout of the writing around them, if it is a closer shot,
the writing will be around both sides, near the bottom, but if it is a shot angled to a side, the
writings will be around the opposite side of the model.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I am going to create a fashion magazine that also tackles anxiety issues and how fashion can help
a person feel more comfortable with themselves and their skin. It will focus on teenagers who are
inspiring to be part of the fashion community and want to make a statement with who they are,
whether that is sexuality, gender stereotypes or a political statement, this article will show them
that they can do that. I am going to read articles in Vogue, which tackle such issues and use them
to assist me when writing my own. I will also speak to people who use fashion as their shield and
how it helps them as a person. Speaking to people about their own experiences will help my article
as it will be more real and sound like a proper article that would be found in a copy of a magazine,
such as Vogue.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will evaluate my work by choosing aspects that didn’t work as I wanted them to or parts that took
a lot of work to do, using time I didn’t have. I will make note of these aspects so when It comes to
creating another cover, or something similar, I know what works and what not to include. The
Photoshop skills will also translate into my other work, making my work altogether look better.
