1. Music Video
I am going to base my music videos genre on indie, soft rock and rap rock. The target audience I
want to appeal to will be teenagers and young adults, both male and female. I want it to appeal
to certain stereo types, for example scene, emo, punks and rockers. I have been influenced by a
variety of bands that are popular in today’s age and bands which have been popular in the past.
Some of these bands are The Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Green day, bring me the horizon and
Sleeping with sirens. There are specific songs and music videos that have influenced me, for
examplesome of these are Evanescence-Bring me back to life, Foo Fighters- Pretender and
sleeping with sirens-With ears you see and eyes you hear. I want my music video to be
performance based because most bands and artists I get influenced by have made a variety of
performance based music videos and their lyrics are mainly meaningful.
Song/Music: IfI’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn by Sleeping with sirens.
Director/Prod House:Paige Ward
General Concept:
The music video will be set in a darkish room with all the bands
instruments and props set up as they play. The vocalist is singing about a
girl, in the video the camera will keep cross cutting back to her walking
through a field looking sad then back to the band performing.
The video will start off dark so you can’t see anything, and then the
lights will slowly get brighter as the band starts playing, but the lighting will stay dark and grey
scaled. The camera shot will be a long shot of the entire band, as the vocalist starts to sing the
camera shot will change to a close up of this face then the camera will cross cut to the females
face. Throughout the song the camera will mainly focus on the vocalist and the girl he is singing
about, but it will also focus on the band. The vocalist sings the song as if he is singing it to her,
towards the end of the music video the girl is hugging another guy, the camera shot will be a
long shot of them hugging and slowly zoom in and around them until you can only see both of
their faces. When the vocalist sees this he puts down the microphone and walks off. The camera
shot ends on a long shot of the vocalist walking off.
Guidelines:
1. I might not be able to get the setting I want, so I might have to look at other
settings.
2. The band/people I want to use might not be able to do it.
3. I’m using certain clothing, but I might not be able to get the clothing I want so
I’d have to look into other clothing/ clothing colours which fit in with my music
video and genre.
4. Getting enough money to pay for certain items might be a problem, I may not
have enough money for every prop and clothing I want to use.
2. Rules I am going to apply:
1. It is a band performance so keep the video performance based, but some concept.
2. The whole of the band will be videoed playing, but the vocalist will be focused on the
most.
3. Extras will be needed for the audience when videoing the band as if it is a live
performance/ street performance.
4. Need a full band set up, including amps.
5. The video will have some light, but the colours will mainly be grey scaled and dark to go
with the song and music genre.
6. The band will just wear plain black or grey t-shirt/vest, black skinny jeans and black
shoes.
