The objective of the project was to develop urban infrastructure to improve Thang Long Industrial Park and the northern Van Tri new urban area near Hanoi. The project built road and drainage systems over 2 years to support a population increase of 110,000 people living on 2,640 hectares of land. It was funded by JICA at a total cost of $18 million and involved designing and constructing roads, drainage canals, pumping stations and other water infrastructure to service the new development.

1. 2. Project: Thang Long North Van Tri – Hanoi Urban Infrastructure
Development - CP2B Works: Road and Drainage Systems (2 years - 1 month:
from Jan 2007 – Feb 2009)
The objective of project was to build and develop the urban infrastructure to
improve and develop Thang Long Industrial Park and Northern Thang Long – Van
Tri new urban area. The project increased the population scale about 110,000
people, land area 2,640m2 in Kim Chung, Vong La, Hai Boi, Vinh Ngoc, Kim No
and Dai Manh communes at Dong Anh district.

Project Outline: The project linked Dong Tru bridge and extension of highway
no.5. Including four civil packages as follows:
- CP1: Water supply plant: capacity of 50,000m3/day and night and 8 drilling
wells on rice field, 8 drilling wells on out of dyke.
- CP2: Road and Drainage Systems:
- Road: Main road with the length of 3 km, width of 50m connected to highway 23
and byway with the length of 720m, width of 72.5m, frontage road 2.6 km, width
of 26m.
- Drainage system: including pumping station, inlet channel, sluiceway, outlet
channel, Viet Thang canal, Van Tri lake, retention ponds, roads and fencing,
mechanical systems, electrical systems and substations
- CP3: Waste water treatment plant: capacity of 38,000m3/day and night.
- CP4: Electric supply: 80MVA capacity, including two transformers 40MVA;
total length of electric line 110KV is 5 km.
