The document describes the various software and equipment used to create a video project. 1. What programmes did I use
and how did I use it?

2. PLANNING
First of all was the planning! I used Microsoft
Word and story-board sheet’s to come to
terms with the over-all plan of the video
and listed using bullet points what props I
would need to make the best impression.

3. Photographs
To show my location ideas in my planning, I
visited my location spot’s using a compact
digital camera. Once I had taken the
photo’s, I used a connection cable to
connect to the computer. Once uploaded, I
displayed the photo’s onto Blogger.com:

4. The Filming
Once the planning was finished, and all my
ideas sculpted and recorded, now was
time for the filming! I used a tripod, a video
camera, a tape and two batteries. When
these were set up and positioned I was
ready to go!

5. In the Studio
For my studio scenes, I used a special HD
video camera, professional lighting, strobe
lighting, and reflectors. The use of these
elements added to the professional look of
the video

6. Editing
Once I had all my footage
uploaded onto my computer, I
then opened up the programme:
Final Cut
This programme allows you to cut
and edit your footage.
I was able to slow down shots and
speed up shots using a tool
which allowed me to select the
clip I wanted to change- then
using the duration I was able to
either decrease or increase the
percentage of the speed.

7. Editing
As well as changing speeds, I added audio
and enhanced every clip to it’s fullest.

To keep my audio together and
in place, I locked the music into
the ‘time-line’ so that it couldn’t
mess up.

8. Editing
Green Screening:
• I used a ‘black hand
dance’ in the studio
behind a green-
screen. This meant
that I had to cut-out
the green
background on the

9. colour
Changing the contrast and colour of the clips can
really make a difference. My video consisted
mainly of darkened shots- the darkness has
scary connotations- this is the look I wanted. The
‘pipette’ tool allows you to choose exactly the
colour you want and you can change the tone
and shade of any of them.

10. Finishing
To finish, I rendered all of my shots and
ripped the footage onto a blank disk. I
made 2 copies, one for personal use and
one for the examiner.
