Introduction to AMRC

The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) was established in
2001 as a £15 million collaboration between the University of Sheffield and
Boeing, with support from Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional
Development Fund.
In 2004, the AMRC moved into a purpose-built facility at the Advanced
Manufacturing Park.
The AMRC Design Prototyping and Testing Centre is a radical expansion of
the original AMRC building.

Introduction to AMRC

Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future has an open-plan workshop which is
focused on Machining research, housing an array of state-of-the-art machining
centres and other manufacturing equipment
The centre grew rapidly and, after securing a further £10m funding, opened the 4,500
sq m AMRC Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future in 2008. An 1,800 sq m extension to
the Factory of the Future was opened in 2012 to house an expanded Composite
Centre.

Introduction to AMRC

The Knowledge Transfer Centre opened in May 2012 to help engage
businesses along the manufacturing supply chain; and the new AMRC
Training Centre was opened in autumn 2013 to provide advanced
apprenticeship and higher training for manufacturing companies.
The KTC allows AMRC to present the innovative tools and technologies
developed in the main AMRC workshops to the UK manufacturing base and is
used regularly for seminars and events.
