The Software Engineering and Internet Technologies Laboratory (SEIT) lab is part of the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus. The lab focuses its research activities on two important areas of Information Technology, namely Software Engineering and Internet Technologies. The lab also pursues activities related to Technology Enhanced Learning, E-Business, E-Government and developing environments for elders' social inclusion, active ageing and independent living. Finally, the lab's research is also related to Creativity, Recommender Systems and Crowd Sourcing.
There are several algorithms, in literature, for obtaining the fuzzy optimal solution of fuzzy transportation problems (FTPs). To the best of the author's knowledge, in the history of mathematics, no one has been able to solve transportation problem (TP) under four different uncertain environment using single method in the past years. So, in this chapter, the author tried to categories the TP under four different environments and formulates the problem and utilizes the crisp numbers, triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs), and trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (TrFNs) to solve the TP. A new method, namely, PSK (P. Senthil Kumar) method for finding a fuzzy optimal solution to fuzzy transportation problem (FTP) is proposed. Practical usefulness of the PSK method over other existing methods is demonstrated with four different numerical examples. To illustrate the PSK method different types of FTP is solved by using the PSK method and the obtained results are discussed.

Abstract:
“Health Informatics”. “Urban Informatics”. “Social Informatics”. Informatics offers systemic ways of analyzing and designing the interaction of natural and artificial information processing systems. In the context of education, I will describe some Learning Informatics lenses and practices which we have developed for co-designing analytics and AI with educators and students. We have a particular focus on closing the feedback loop to equip learners with competencies to navigate a complex, uncertain future, such as critical thinking, professional reflection and teamwork. En route, we will touch on how we build educators’ trust in novel tools, our design philosophy of “embracing imperfection” in machine intelligence, and the ways that these infrastructures embody values. Speaking from the perspective of leading an institutional innovation centre in learning analytics, I hope that our experiences spark productive reflection around as the UMN Learning Informatics Lab builds its program.
Biography:
Simon Buckingham Shum is Professor of Learning Informatics at the University of Technology Sydney, where he serves as inaugural director of the Connected Intelligence Centre. CIC is a transdisciplinary innovation centre, using analytics to provide new insights for university teams, with particular expertise in educational data science. Simon’s career-long fascination with software’s ability to make thinking visible has seen him active in communities including Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, Hypertext, Design Rationale, Scholarly Publishing, Semantic Web, Computational Argumentation, Educational Technology and Learning Analytics. The challenge of visualizing contested knowledge has produced several books: Visualizing Argumentation, Knowledge Cartography, and Constructing Knowledge Art. CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

social networks and smart environment. Professor Hassanien is Member of the Specialized Scientific Council
of Information and Communications Technology, Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT)
Research works and publications: Prof. Hassanien is a collaborative researcher member of the
Computational Intelligence Laboratory at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University
of Manitoba. He also holds the Chair of Computer Science and Information Technology at the Egyptian
Syndicate of Scientific Professions (ESSP). Dr Hassanien is the founder and head of Africa Scholars
Association in Information and Communication Technology. His other research areas include computational
intelligence, medical image analysis, security, animal identification, space sciences and telemetry mining and
multimedia data mining. Professor Abo is number 6 in the citation of cairo university (more than 7000 citation)
Awards and prizes: Prof. Hassanien won several awards including the Best Researcher of the Youth Award
of Astronomy and Geophysics of the National Research Institute, Academy of Scientific Research (Egypt,
1990). He was also granted a scientific excellence award in humanities from the University of Kuwait for the
2004 Award, and received the superiority of scientific in technology - University Award (Cairo University,
2013). Also He honored in Egypt as the best researcher in Cairo University in 2013. He was also received the
Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) prize on Technology (2014) and received
the state Award (الدولة )جائزةfor excellence in engineering sciences 2015. الط من والفنون العلوم وسام على حاصلاالولى بقة

President Al-Sisi
Community service:: Dr Hassanien’s great many activities in community and the environment service include
organizing 40 workshops hosted by a large number of universities in almost all governorates of Egypt. He has
been honored by a number of university presidents and governors for his active engagement in community
service. His other community service activities include promoting awareness about the importance of ICT in
promoting the lives and status of people, with particular focus on the disabled, children of the internet and the
homeless. Chief among these were the Egyptian disabled celebrations, held on the theme “Partners in one
world without barriers”, in addition to a workshop on Smartphone’s techniques and their role in the
development of visually impaired skills in various walks of life, a conference on the role of communications and
social networking technology in fostering integration of persons with special needs amid present challenges, a
workshop on protecting children from internet hazards and several training workshops at various Egyptian
universities. Professor Hassanien deliver more than 50 lectures to the Egyptian young researcher at different universities
