Theta Tau International, is advancing world health
and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship,
leadership, and service.
Sigma Theta Tau International's vision is to be the

To establish a uniform standard of training for nurses
midwives and health visitors.
Functions
To improve the quality of nursing education.
To establish and monitor a uniform standard of nursing
education for nurses midwife, Auxiliary Nurse- Midwives
and health visitors by doing inspection of the institutions.
To promote research in Nursing.
To maintain Indian Nurses Register for registration of
Nursing Personnel.
Prescribe code of ethics and professional conduct.

11. The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) is a
national organization of nurse professionals at
different levels.
It was established in 1908 and was initially known as
Association of Nursing Superintendents.
The Government of India has recognized TNAI as a
service organization in 1950

13. The Student Nurses' Association, popularly known
as SNA, is a nation-wide organization of nursing
students. It was established in 1929 at the time of
annual conference of the TNAI in Madras.

15. Nurse Pledge
I solemnly pledge myself before God and in presence of this assembly to
practice my profession with dedication.
I will serve mankind with love and compassion, recognising their dignity
and rights irrespective of colour, caste, creed, religion and nationality.
I will endeavour to maintain up to date knowledge and skill to uphold
standard of Nursing care to individual, family and community in all settings
and in all aspects of holistic care as a member of the health care team.
I will hold in confidence personal matters of my clients committed to my
care and help them to develop confidence in care rendered by me.
I will refrain from any activity that will harm my personal and professional
dignity as a Nurse.
I will actively support my profession and strive towards its advancement.

17. Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC) is an
autonomous statutory body constituted by the
Government of Kerala under the provisions of Nurses
and Midwives Act 1953.
The Council consists of elected and nominated
members. The Government nominates the President.
The Registrar is the Secretary of the Council.
18. Functions
Establishment and maintenance of uniform standards
of nursing education in Kerala.
Registration of successful candidates from Kerala as
Registered Nurse – Registered Midwife (RN RM).
19. Various committees
Education Committee: Deals with matters related to
conduct of examination and policy matters concerning
nursing education.
Scrutiny Committee: Scrutinizes the Inspection
Reports of Colleges and Schools of Nursing and gives
report to the Council.
Board of Examiners: Consists of President and Board
Members. It deals with matters related to examination
and publication of results
