Production Diary
PROGRESS UPDATE PLAN FOR NEXT MONTH / WEEK(Including Possible
Contingency Plans If Problems Anticipated)
September 2012
(Detailed Monthly Summary)
Week 1
This week we took part in several introduction activities where we
were introduced to the course.
Week 2
This week we looked at the briefs for each coursework route and
decided upon which brief we wished to follow. I opted for music
video, we then got into groups we wished to work with, I will be
working as a pair. We also set up our blogs this week.
Week 3
This week I conducted my research for my first ancillary task, I
found 3 digipacks from the RnB/Pop genre and analysed them in
detail.
Week 4
I created my DigiPack for my first ancillary this week on Adobe
Photoshop.
Week 1
Begin thinking of what we would like to do for
coursework i.e. newspaper, short film or music video.
Week 2
Begin research for my ancillary tasks.
Week 3
Create first ancillary task next week. Also find a make
shift image as will not have actual image for ancillary
until after my music video has been created.
Week 4
Next week I will conduct my research into
advertisements for my second ancillary task.
October 2012
Week 1
I found 3 album advertisements from the Pop/RnB genre and
analysed them in detail.
Week 2
I have now made my second ancillary task, all ancillary tasks have
been completed. I also conducted research into 3 similar products
to my final piece and analysed 3 music videos from the pop/RnB
genre.
Week 3
This week I have completed a questionnaire, I created a
questionnaire in order to find out what my target audience want to
see in a music video and got 20 people within my target audience
to fill it out.
Week 4
I have created a report compounding all the results I found from
Week 1
Next week I will create my second ancillary task again
using a make shift image.
Week 2
Begin market research next week, start to consider
target audience.
Week 3
Next week I will analyse the results from my
questionnaire and compound them into a report. I will
also begin thinking of initial ideas for my music video.
Week 4
Next week I will compile all mine and my partners initial
ideas down and begin considering what we will encode
into our video.

my market research and am now aware of what my target
audience wish to see and can begin planning my final product. Also
this week did some research into audience theory.
November 2012
Week 1
This week I looked back at the analysis I conducted of 3 similar
products to my main piece. I and my partner then made a final
decision on the song we will use ‘Let It Roll’ by Flo-Rida and
created a mind map of all our initial ideas.
Week 2
This week we continued looking at initial ideas as we changed our
mind upon the genre style we wish to follow in our music video.
We then began compiling a report of our final decisions.
Week 3
Completed report of final ideas for music video. Also began writing
script for music video containing shots we will use etc.
Week 4
Script for music video almost complete.
Week 1
Next week we shall turn our initial ideas made map into
a report of our final decisions for what our music video
will encode. We are going to try and make a final
decision on genre style as we have been deliberating
this this week.
Week 2
Complete report of decisions and begin writing a script
for our video if we have time.
Week 3
Try to complete writing script as have been having
difficulties deciding upon what shots we wish to use etc.
Week 4
Complete script next week and begin drawing up a
storyboard.
December 2012
Week 1
Script completed this week. Also started drawing our storyboard
up.
Week 2
Storyboard has this week been completed.
HALF TERM
Week 1
Ensure storyboard is complete before we break up for
half term.
Week 2
Brake up for half term; begin filming when we return
after Christmas.

Mon W/B 07/01/13
(Detailed Weekly Summary)
This week we filmed all shots we can film in college, filmed some
lip syncing and teenagers having fun in fields etc.
Carry on filming and arrange days where we can meet
up to film.
Mon W/B 14/01/13
Again continued filming this week filmed scenes in local pub and
also in the home. Several of our videos have been filmed portrait
which will not work with Adobe Premiere pro so need to re film
these clips.
Begin editing shots we have and also continue filming as
still need many more shots. Also re film shots that
won’t work in Premiere

Mon W/B 21/01/13
Began piecing together videos we have in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3,
also uploaded the song into Premiere. We have this week filmed
several scenes at a house party setting and scenes that would not
work in Premiere, problem is now resolved.
Continue editing video and piecing together shots.
Continue filming as still need more shots.
Mon W/B 28/01/13
This week we filmed inside a nightclub which is a stereotypical
setting for the Pop/RnB genre. We have also continued editing and
have calculated we need approximately a minute more of footage.
Film another lip syncing scene. Also need more close
ups of females, will continue piecing together video
aswell.
Mon W/B 04/02/13
We have filmed a lip syncing scene and got some more close ups of
females. Editing has continued although had a problem this week
as computers were not co-operating.
Again continue editing music video. Try to film all final
pieces of footage required.
Mon W/B 11/02/13
Filmed more footage inside a club this week. All footage filmed.
First draft of music video almost complete.
Look through all pieces of footage to see if there is any
footage we can re-use or have not yet used. Get
feedback on first draft.
Mon W/B 18/02/13
Looked through all footage found some good footage we had not
yet used and added in the new footage we had filmed, all time
now filled now need to add special effects.
Next week we will get feedback on first draft from our
teacher and add special effects.
Mon W/B 25/02/13
After feedback we discovered we needed to improve lip syncing,
spent a lot of time trying to get miming to synchronise, well
synchronised in most clips having trouble with one or two clips
though.
Continue editing, try to make synchronisation better.
Add special effects such as fades etc to make video run
smoothly.
Mon W/B 04/03/13
Worked on synchronisation again, is now the best it will be. Added
some fading effects into the video so it now runs smoothly.
Video almost complete, next week just add some more
effects.
Mon W/B 11/03/13
Used a very effective editing technique this week in two sections of
our video, we split the screen and duplicated the image in one
section and tripled it in another, looks very professional and
effective.
Watch video next week and try to spot any final touches
we can add/change ready for deadline date next week.
Mon W/B 18/03/13
Final deadline for main product this week. Added finishing touches
to our product. Uploaded final product to YouTube and onto our
blogs.
Begin evaluation, create focus group on Facebook to
collaborate audience feedback.
Mon W/B 01/04/13
Completed questions one and two on a word document for my
evaluation, question one will remain as a word document.
Complete questions 3 and 4 on word document for
evaluation.

Mon W/B 08/04/13
Questions 3 and 4 both answered in detail for evaluation on a
word document.
Next week I need to turn questions 2 and 3 into Prezi
presentations and also film myself talking about
question 4, upload all to blog for deadline.
Mon W/B 15/04/13
Created two Prezi presentations containing imagery for questions
2 and 3 and uploaded both presentations to my blog. Created a
video of myself talking through question 4 uploaded video to
YouTube and uploaded to my blog.
Coursework now all completed. Will now begin revision
for the exam.
