Emma King is an up-and-coming UK R&B artist who was recently nominated for a Brit Award. After facing many rejections, her new single "Fight Back" became a number one hit. In an interview, she expresses her shock at her nomination and success, gratitude towards her supportive fans, and excitement for her upcoming album "New Tricks" and planned UK tour later in the year.

AMPLIFIED! Recently bumped into Emma King the UK’s hottest new RnB artist at her good friend
Paddy Collinsons new album listening party and she kindly agreed to have a chat with us! Emma King
is your classic Manchester girl with one hell of a talent, after a long winded career of disappointment
she is finally here and is here to stay! She has recently been nominated for the Brit Awards ‘Hottest
new comer’ award and will be going head to head for the title with Paddy Collinson, Nicki Minaj and
J Cole. After the release of her brand new single ‘Fight Back’ swept the country by storm and went
straight to number one on the UK I-Tunes chart we luckily got the chance to speak with Emma the
straight talking, fun-loving artist about her long anticipated album and her hectic life!
So Emma how does it feel hearing your music on the radio?
It’s so overwhelming I never thought this would happen to a girl like me I just can’t get my head
around it! I’ve waited so long for people to really here my music and have been rejected so many
times it just surreal! The first time I heard my single on the radio I honestly nearly fainted. (Laughs)
You mentioned rejection how was this to deal with?
Yeah it was absolutely awful, I’ve heard the word ‘no’ and been told ‘you’re not good enough’ so
many times that I have been so close to giving up but my loyal fans, family and friends have kept me
going and reminded me every day that I am good enough! I’m so glad I never gave up. I am so happy
to be able to just laugh at everyone who ever doubted me! Everyone should follow their dreams no
matter what life throws at you; every cloud has a silver lining. Positivity is key and Hey look where
it’s got me I’m nominated for a Brit!
Yeah that’s great! Were you shocked to nominated?
Oh my god yeah! I couldn’t believe it, it is honestly such an honour to even be nominated, I don’t for
a second expect to win I mean come on look who I’m up against, their amazing! I’m just so excited
for the actual award show, I went and watched it last year and now i’ll be part of it it’s so
overwhelming! I can’t begin to thank my fans enough for voting for me!
How does it feel to be up against your friend Paddy Collinson?
(Laughs) It’s great I’ve been friends with him since school so we are really good friends! We’ve both
been trying to crack the industry together, so for us to both be up against each other is amazing! He
really is an amazing artist.
You already have a quite a large fan base out there don’t you?
Yeah, it’s great there so supportive and really do keep me going, all I do is for them, without them
I’m nothing. I’m so so grateful for every single fan I have out there! My fans mean the world to me
there my strength!
With your busy schedule you must not get much time to interact with them?
I try my best to reply to all the messages I get on twitter but there’s so many I couldn’t possibly see
them all! I love meeting my fans and chatting with them, it’s really inspiring.
So what do you like to do to just relax from all the madness?
I love spending time with my family and all my friends, just doing normal things like going to the
cinema or talking about boys (laughs) I am still just a normal girl, people forget that! My family and
friends really keep me grounded. I also LOVE dancing it’s so relaxing!
You mentioned about boy’s, is there anyone interesting you at the moment?
(Laughs) Well, I suppose I am sort of seeing someone, it’s nothing serious, just early day’s!

I’m not mentioning names sorry (Laughs) my lips are sealed! If thinks keep up all will be announced
soon!
So your album ‘New Tricks’ is out on the 27th of May, I’ve had a sneaky demo and I must say it
sound’s brilliant!
Yeah it is you can pre order it now! And aw thank you! I’m really proud of the final outcome, I wrote
all the songs and each one is completely different it’s not as you’d expect. This album is totally fresh,
it’s all so exciting!
Well your hard work has definitely paid off! Are you going to do any touring?
I really hope so! And yeah I am I can’t wait, I’m going to do a UK tour around October time, it’s still
early day’s and no dates have been made but will be coming very soon so everyone should keep
their eyes peeled!
You really are going all out this year aren’t you first your single, then the album and now a tour!
Yeah I love what I do and love keeping myself busy and plus it is all amazing fun. 2012 will be my
year to shine, I really can’t wait to see what the future holds as I sense it will be very exciting!
