Understanding Semantics




Objective
To develop an understanding of semantics of
products in its context of use and existence.
Apply the understanding while conceiving and
conceptualizing in the product design process for
a desired outcome through a project later.

Ta product focusing upper middle class families.
who are interested in being entertained.
who appreciate aesthetically pleasing products.
a product who can entertain 2 people sitting over
a cup of tea or who just want to pass time.

                             A lot of them are interactive products.

Indian audience of almost all age groups love
user study/     being entertained through their TV sets/ mobile
observations.   phones, radio etc.


                Listening to songs are considered to be a major
                source of entertainment and at the same time
                one of the most common practises during their
                free time.


                Audience are ruled by bollywood songs to a
                greater extent.


                They love singing bollywood songs when alone or
                with a near dear one


                They love meeting friends often, a lot of times
                when sitting with their friends/family they tend to
                get bored at times.

Concept Note
To create an upscale product, one that appeares
to be more like a peice of artifact or lifestlye
accessory, than an electronic device, a radio that
would be valued for both its function and its
design.




                                  Opportunity : to design a karaoke radio

                                                     he idea is to design a table top radio, which is not
                                                     anything else but a radio. Its basic function is to
                                                     play the radio stations and display the lyrics of the
                                                     songs playing on it. The idea is to involve and en-
                                                     tertain a user. By making him sing along.
