This document outlines an agenda for training on problem solving. It discusses defining problems, premises and directions for problem solving, techniques and steps. Problem solving techniques aim to proactively reduce problems and include FMEA, 8D and PDCA. The problem solving steps are to establish a team, describe the problem, perform correction and root cause analysis, establish corrective actions, implement and validate actions, check efficacy and establish preventive actions. Tools include brainstorming, Ishikawa diagrams, control charts, Pareto analysis and checklists. Corrective action addresses root causes while preventive action aims to avoid recurrence.
