I. Creating a Problem-Analysis Report
A. Writing Task:
This Problem-Analysis Report would require students to have thorough data gathering about
their identified problems from a certain organization or institution. The primary task is to cite a
problem and through studying it, provide a solution.
After gathering the data, they will critically analyze the problem—its probable cause and
evident effects.
Through this analysis, students hope to arrive with different three suggestions to solve the
problem. From this possible suggestions, they have to choose the best solution to the given
problem.
To help students do the task, here is a given template:
I. Preliminary Section
A. Title page contain the following:
1. Title of the report
2. Author’s names and courses
3. Instructor’s name
4. Date of Submission
B. Table of Contents (proper paginations)
C. Executive Summary
1. Create an overview of the report from the background of the report to the recommendation part.
II. Introduction
A. Background of the Report
1. Nature of the Report (Rationale)
Have here your observations in the campus (for campus-related problems), in your
community (societal problems) or chosen establishment (business-related problems) which
badly need attention and solution
2. Statement of the Problem
1. What is the problem?
2. Why was it a problem?
3. Formulate Objective(s) of the study
1. What would you like to achieve in this report?
B. Scope and Limitation
1. To what extent will you discuss the problem?
2. What will you include and exclude in the report?
C. Methodology and Procedure
1. How will you gather the related information for your report?
III. Discussion
1. Present credible and related sources/pieces of evidence [Review of Related Literature] (Use in-
text citations)
2. What happened in your data-gathering?
2. 3. What significant discoveries did you find among the data? (Pros and Cons)
IV. Conclusions
A. Give inferences targeting your objectives.
1. What are the implications that you can draw from the data gathered?
2. How is the discussion part related to your point/ idea?
3. How will your discoveries about the problem help the
campus/community/establishment?
4. Answer “so what” questions.
V. Recommendations
A. These are your logical judgments based on the conclusion drawn.
B. This is where you discuss the options.
1. What are your considerations for decision-making? Explain how you narrowed the field of
choices in the conclusion part to the ones that the report focuses on. Give criteria for judging
the options.
C. Explain pros and cons per option.
D. Use either Point-by-point/ Block Approach.
