• The story took place in the contemporary period, in
the present, when too many technological advances
are existing. This is important for the movie series
NYSM because the characters use gadgets for magic
shows and stealing, for the viewers to feel that the
magic they portrayed still have explanations.
• It is set in urban places specifically in New
York; Nevada; France where there are a lot of people.
Big Cities are usually the goal place of performers in
real life, so it is a perfect setting for NYSM movie series
because it is based on magicians.
Exposition
• Four magicians with different expertise were recruited
by a secret society of magicians called “The Eye.”
There, they have known each other and became
known as “The Four Horsemen”
Rising action
• For them to be a regular member of the secret society,
they were given tasks like robbing a bank, giving money
through bank accounts, and dropping millions of
dollars from the sky. All three were made in live
performances and public shows.
Conflict
• Because the performance of these magicians
involve stealing cops, the FBI, were after them.
• Also a magician debunker is trying to expose
how they made those robberies
Climax
(Spoiler Alert!)
Falling action
• The main cop revealed to the four horsemen
that he is the Fifth horsemen, the one who
recruited them.
Resolution
• The cop got what he wanted by getting the
man he accused that killed his father, the
magician debunker, arrested.
Exposition
• The four horsemen returned to the stage after
a long time of hiding from the FBI
Conflict
• Their show did not go as planned. A multi-
millionaire syndicate, whose criminal leader
faked his death, abducted them and in return
for their freedom they have to steal an
important computer chip.
Rising acton
• They have been able to get the chip.
• They tried to not give the chip to the
syndicates but the syndicates found out. Good
thing, the 5th horsemen, the real leader, the
cop/FBI agent, saved him. How did he found
them? The 5th horsemen found his kidnapped
subordinates by the help of the magician
debunker whom he freed from prison.
Climax
• The horsemen plotted a huge magic show to
reveal to the world that the criminal leader
that faked his death is very much alive and
should face justice.
FALLING ACTION
• The secret society of magicians shown
themselves to the horsemen. They have known
that almost all that happened to them were
plotted by the society. Also they have learned
that the magician debunker, the one they put
behind bars, is part of the secret society.
RESOLUTION
• The 5th horseman learned that the magician
debunker is not a culprit to his father’s death. His
death is an accident.
• Revenge
• Friendship and Leadership
• Teamwork/Camaraderie
• Most of the critics are about the flaws within
every plotted Theft scene.
– How most of it depends on chances, if these plans
will be applied in real life
– How the Authorities seem to intentionally be
careless
– How misleading the acting of Dylan Rhodes as a
fool. It seems to much.
• Yet they still recommend to others to watch it

PURPOSE
• The purpose of the movie is
– To amaze us with the magic tricks
– To hook our attention by making us guess the
connections
– To entertain us
• Critics still recommend this movie in spite some flaws
because its purpose is not to inform us but to entertain
us, and it did the job.
IMPORTANCE
• Sometimes, people need some lighthearted
artwork to watch like Magic. Watching it makes
you focus everything in the present time while it
is being performed. You enjoy the moment of
every performance
• In this present time, people are already
overloaded with information that we need to
learn and remember. Genres of NYSM are
important for people to unwind because all they
have to do is live in the moment.
MESSAGE
• Every magic lies with its own trick
• Every magnificent act or trick has their own secret that
we should reveal
• The best revenge is just moving on and getting over it.
Don’t give someone the satisfaction of watching you
suffer
• The strength of the team is each individual member;
the strength of each member is the team
• Not all things we see with our naked eye is real. It
means that the closer you look, the less you see.
ART/ LITERARY
• In history, literature is all about entertaining, empowering
and enlightment. It is more on expressing your thought and
opinion by way means of putting message on the piece of
work that you've done. NYSM1 and 2 has that criteria. By
means of magic and some tricks they are exposing some
acts or some person responsible for that crime
• For me, it is the adaptation of a certain daily unknown
happenings in our society that is usually performed in
places where there is a lot of people like plaza, market to
entertain into a movie wherein the trick is explained to gain
knowledge on what we see yet we cannot understand
• Now You See Me 3 is already happening even
before 2 is released. This means that the semi-
decent magician-heist film is now becoming a
trilogy.
