During the month of November, I became our school s acting testing coordinator. Our testing
coordinator was in an accident and went out on medical leave. She was suddenly out for an
undetermined amount of time and with a severe concussion was unable to remember what she
completed and what she did not. During her absence, there were two assessments and a survey that
needed to me completed. These assessments included SAT 10, FFT (Teacher Survey) and MAP R.
This was a very demanding experience. The first thing that needed to be completed was the FFT
Teacher Survey. This is important to all teachers on cycle using the Framework for Teaching. The
Survey is a vital component to a teachers overall effectiveness. If left incomplete, the teacher receives

telescreen. If they do anything wrong, there is a chance that the government will come in the night and
take them away to be vaporized. A similar thing occurs in Shirley Jackson s The Lottery. Tessie
Hutchinson, a woman of the small town, is chosen in the lottery. The lottery is an annual event that
occurs to take one person and stone them to death to keep the population to a minimum. Jackson
illustrates Tessi s final scene: Tessie Hutchinson was in the center of a cleared space by now, and she
held her hands out desperately as the villagers moved in on her (Jackson 7). Being put in this kind of
position, the government was able to control Tessie because of her fear. At that point, Tessie would be
willing to do anything to save her life but the rules of the government force her to be stoned. Both
Orwell and Jackson used the fear of the unknown as a solid point in their government structures much

Plato says it is difficult to go back down into the darkness after somebody has seen the light, but they
must. They must educate the slaves about the world above, so the slaves understand that power is not
the greater good. Even though it will be about ten times harder to readjust to the darkness after
descending into the cave again they will see about ten times better, because now they know the

If anything, he/she might have gotten the idea from television or video games. I understand that those
who are disruptive to the learning process should be removed from school. It is not fair to other
students who actually want to learn. If they aren t very disruptive, I think other punishments should be
implemented, such as in school suspensions.
In the movie we watched, it discussed an eight year old boy who was suspended for playing with a
paper gun. I see no harm in this. He obviously wasn t trying to hurt anyone; he just wanted to play
cowboys and Indians like a normal young boy. However, due to the zero tolerance act, he was
suspended. I see no fairness. I would understand if he would have purposely hurt someone with his
paper gun, but he was just pretending. Also in another school, a school mascot wasn t allowed to carry
a cardboard sword around. It s not as if he wanted to attack someone with this fake sword; it is just
part of his costume.

I don t think that animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum for gladiator fights. Some might
believe that animals were used to make the fights more entertaining. But I believe that it was very
unkind to the animals and inhumane. This is misguided because they could have use something else to
entertain themselves like plays or something other than killing thousands of animals and humans.
Many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The animals killed a lot of people at the colosseum.
They(people in the colosseum and the townspeople) would kill a lot of animals. The definition of a
gladiator is a person who was a professional fighter, and fought in front of people in the colosseum in
the Roman Empire. Some things about the colosseum are it was started to be built in 70 A.D and
finished 10 years later. The height of the colosseum was 157ft and the perimeter was 1788 ft. There
were 4 floors and it could hold 50,000 people. The arena was 180 ft wide and 287 ft long. One other
thing about the colosseum is over 1 million animals died there. The first reason that i don t think
animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum is because many animals went extinct in the
colosseum. The first example is elephants, lions, and tigers from Africa and Asia were hunted until
