Mci Coorporation
1. What is the likely level of MCI s external financing needs over the next several years?
Based on the Exhibit 9A in the case, we can calculate the Source and Use of Funds. As Exhibit 1
suggests, the company require about $4.8 billion during 1984 and 1990. This is basically due to the
required new capex during the same period, which will be accumulated to $10.2 billion, and the
increase of cash holding, $2.0 billion, as a use of funds and the company can generate funds from
operation, only $7.8 billion. Therefore, the company needs to fill the gap by sourcing external finance
of about $4.8 billion. This amount will vary depending primarily on two factors; 1) whether MCI can
expand market share as forecasted amid the increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why?
We suggest that the company should take the option 3. Firstly, as mentioned in the above, the
company requires $4.8 billion during 1984 and 1990 and option 3 can provide largest fund compared
with option 1 and 2. Secondly, the option 3 incurs the least interest rate, 7.5%. Thirdly, even though
the company needs to increase the debt ratio in the short run, they can adjust it later with the
conversion option, which gives the company flexibility for capital

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
In 2008, the American economy broke down. Known as the Global Financial Crisis, this is widely
considered to be the worst financial crisis since the 1930 s when the stock market crashed and the
Great Depression hit.
On November 4, 2008, candidate Barack Obama was elected for the first term of his presidency. The
following February, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 or the ARRA was signed
into effect by congress, and made into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009. This stimulus
package was originally proposed to be 816 billion dollars, but was eventually raised to be 840 billion
dollars in 2012. The purpose of this bill was to inspire confidence in the American people that the
economy would be up and running again. The ARRA was intended to give money back to small
businesses as well as the American families who ran and worked at these businesses. This varies from
TARP, or the Troubled Asset Recovery Program, which was a bill that was aimed at bailing out banks
in October 2008. TARP worked to allow banks in danger to participate in reverse auction, in order to
sell their assets.
In order to restore hope and eventually safeguard 900,000 2.3 million jobs, the ARRA was intended to
be spent over the course of a decade. It was very strategically planned, however, not to be spent
evenly during that time. Instead, the following arrangements were made: 185 billion dollars in the
fiscal year 2009; 400 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2010; and 135 billion

How Does Gran Torino Relate To Psychology
In this essay you will read how I think the movie Gran Torino relates to psychology and why I believe
it does. Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. In this movie you see how the mind and
behavior are or taken by a mental disease. For a brief recap about the movie Gran Torino. It is about
Polish man Walt Kawalski a recent widow, a former Ford assembly line employee, and a Korean War
Veteran. The movie takes place in a small town in Michigan with mostly Southeast Asian race.
Kawalski is a very unhappy, irritable, old fashioned guy who likes to keep everything to himself. He

Billy Beane And Moneyball
Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, by Michael Lewis is a book that discusses how the
Oakland Athletics became a baseball powerhouse despite having one of the smallest budgets. The man
who is the architect of this franchise is Billy Beane, an ex player turned general manager. Beane was a
player who had all of the physical tools old school scouts look for, however he turned out to be a
disappointment; instead of falling into the trap other general managers fell into, he looked for a
competitive edge, a new market inefficiency. He was not afraid to go against the norm, he made a
team with the second smallest budget into a powerhouse, and he inspired an entire new era of
successful general managers, as well as impacting people in other ... Show more content on

One of the most notable executives inspired by Beane is Theo Epstein, a Yale graduate who talked
with Beane as much as possible when he was the assistant general manager in the Red Sox franchise
and due to his frequent conversations with Beane, Epstein becomes obsessed with high on base
percentage players, such as Kevin Youkilis (Lewis 211). Inspired by Billy Beane, Theo Epstein leads
the Boston Red Sox to two World Series titles in nine years, placing a heavy emphasis on on base
percentage; The Red Sox never placed below second in annual on base percentage during Epstein s
tenure as general manager, and now Epstein is recreating the same philosophy in Chicago (ESPN).
Another baseball general manager who was tremendously influenced by Billy Beane was Andrew
Friedman; facing a tight budget in Tampa Bay much like Beane in Oakland, he drafted many college
players and he led a mediocre franchise to four playoff appearances through following Billy Beane s
philosophy (Vice Sports). The Pittsburgh Pirates and their general manager, Neal Huntington have
taken Beane s philosophy to a whole different level; he hired people out of Ivy League schools just
like Beane, however Huntington hired many more specific analysts. Huntington hired Baseball
Prospectus s Dan Fox to build the structure of their proprietary database, while also being an analyst
for the Pirates, also Mike Fitzgerald was hired as an analyst who even traveled with the team on the
road; over the years the Pirates analytical team built a relationship with the players and the coaching
staff, to the point where the analytical group became a key part of the team, even more so than the
Oakland A s and Billy Beane (Sloan Sports Conference). Billy Beane s impact has spread even beyond
baseball; it has spread to soccer, american football, and basketball, one example of a soccer team

Michelle Obama Speech Analysis
In the midst of the 2016 election, First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama gave a speech in
New Hampshire regarding the candidates. Donald Trump was facing Hillary Clinton; and in support,
Michelle Obama presented a Speech On Donald Trump s Alleged Treatment Of Women. As stated in
the title, Trump had recently made rude remarks regarding women, and Michelle Obama was using
this as a learning lesson for anyone looking to vote for Trump. She made it a point to vote for Hillary
by not only stating why not to vote for Trump, but also listing her many accomplishments throughout
her lifetime. Michelle Obama was able to create an effective and persuasive speech by strongly stating
Trump s wrongdoings, passionately listing Clinton s achievements, and frightening us of the possible
future for our children.
Obama s reasoning develops ideas that help connect her claim and evidence using the rhetoric device
of ethos. She quotes, ...we have a candidate... [that] has said things about women that are so shocking,
so demeaning that I simply will not repeat anything here today. And last week I saw this candidate
actually bragging about sexually assaulting women, (Obama, 2016). Obama explains the terrible acts
Trump has done to help her argument in why citizens should vote for Hillary and not Trump. Obama
spoke about the frequent sexual assault Trump has been associated with. Multiple times, he has spoken
inappropriately towards women. By First Lady Obama mentioning this, she is

Target Demographics
The Target that we chose to analyze our classification of products at was in Bloomington, IN at
College Mall near Indiana University s campus. Since this is one of the only malls near this campus,
this is one of the only places for college students to shop. Also, there are many restaurants and other
stores around that attract people to this area. From our experience of being students here, we know
that we go to Target a lot to shop. Therefore, choosing to locate the store near a college campus and
not a small town probably helps sales dramatically. College students are also at the age where they
prefer to work out quite often, so Target is in the perfect place for customers that desire more active

We feel that it would have been easier to shop if all leggings styles were next to each other, all tank
top styles were next to each other, all sports bras next to each other, and so on. We found the same
exact pair of leggings on two different sides of the section. This could keep a customer from finding
an appropriate size, which could result in Target losing a sale. Thus, although the active wear section
itself was very easy to find, making shopability easy, the styles of clothing themselves were very
spread out making shopability difficult. Therefore, we believe Target deserves a grade of a three for
this topic, as it isn t terrible but definitely could be improved.

We were very impressed by how well Target marketed the C9 Champion brand. There was signage all
around the active wear section, including a large sign along the aisle with a logo by the mannequin,
signage on top of clothing racks, on the sides of clothing racks, and extra detail on the hangtags. The
signs portrayed the goal or mission behind the brand: Freedom, Premium, and Embrace. Hangtags
specified which of these the style of legging was, also including more information about the product
such as Duo Dry+, reflective lighting, zip pocket, soft comfortable fabric, ventilated zones for
breathability, and more. As just described and as seen in the pictures below, each hangtag specifies the

High Level Writing Is Vital For My Current Standings As A...
Higher level writing is vital for my current standings as a college student and my future endeavors. In
order to receive positive responses on any papers or discussions, I must be able to properly write on a
college level. I have continuously worked on my writing skills throughout English 101 and 102 and
hope the skills I have gained in these courses will prepare me to write on an intellectual level. Looking
back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback from peers and my instructor, I
have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This past semester I was required to
create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay, Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory
Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these papers entailed vigorous research and time.
My writing has progressively improved throughout the semester in quoting, summarizing, and
paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic appropriate sources; however, I must
strive to improve in general writing skills covering organization, style, diction, grammar, and
mechanics.
I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased,
and quoted source material into academic arguments. Typically, I used quotes strongly along with
information throughout my papers from numerous academic level sources. In my Researched Position
Paper Final, I quoted two sentences from Jeffrey Lieberman s article, How to Halt the

Military Technology
Military Technology Technology in the military has greatly increased strength and eased the ranking
among world powers and effected the development of new military weapons. The term Survival of the
fittest means that the strong will succeed but the meek will not, this is the case with military
technology. The U.S. has the best technology in the world, therefore we are the highest military power.
Technology is a very important part of warfare. Technology is driven by the military. The army s race
during the cold war, spawned some of the greatest technical achievements in human history. Space
travel for example is a result of the X plane project. The Internet was produced by the military as well.

They were built strongly and carried cannons capable of destroying enemy ships. In today s age, the
aircraft carrier and battleships are the rulers of the sea.
Aircraft carriers were first developed in WWII along with planes. Conventional naval guns were
limited to a range of about 20 miles, but by World War II the aircraft carrier, a ship capable of
launching, recovering, and storing aircraft that could themselves destroy ships had extended the battle
range of surface fleets by as much as 300 miles. In doing so, it had a profound effect on naval warfare.
The airplane had just begun to go to sea on the eve of World War I. In November 1910 the American
scout cruiser USS Birmingham launched the first airplane ever to take off from a ship, and two
months later a plane was landed on an improvised flight deck built onto the armored cruiser USS
Pennsylvania. In 1913 a British cruiser, HMS Hermes, was converted to carry aircraft. In 1916, flying
off decks were built aboard several British ships, and by 1918 the Royal Navy had a converted
passenger liner, HMS Argus, that could land and launch planes on a flight deck extending from bow to
stern. The Argus was the world s first true through deck aircraft carrier and was thus the prototype for
all later carriers. (Britannica).
Aircraft carriers carry a crew of 5500 men along with lots of state of the art technology. From tracking
systems to propulsion, the whole ship is run with technology. The

Turning Point Of Juno
Analysis of the movie Juno
Plot
The movie follows a sixteen year old teenager named Juno. She often hangs out with her best friend
Leah and a guy named Paulie Bleeker, however after an accident with Bleeker, Juno finds herself
pregnant. At this time Juno knew she had to do something so she went to the nearest Women s Clinic,
but soon she changes her mind and gives it up for adoption instead. With the help from Leah they soon
find an ad in a newspaper, Juno decides to contact them and later she meets up with them. They seem
like the perfect parents but after a dramatic turn she finds out that they may not be what she once
thought. The big turning point for me would be when Mark reveals that he is going to break up with
Vanessa. After this Vanessa gets her heart shattered and Juno wants to help them out. This led to Juno
having to make many difficult decisions, even the whole plot changed from one thing to the other. All
this makes this certain turning point stand out from the rest and that is why in my opinion this is the

this thing aside as evidenced during one of the running segments. These two are the main characters
since I think the film is mainly about the relationship between both of them. How Juno and Bleeker s
relationship is presented towards the audience takes a turn during the ending sequence in which it is
revealed that both of them had developed feelings towards each other. In the beginning however it s
shown that Bleeker may like Juno in this way but it appears as if he would not have the courage to

Age Of Enlightenment DBQ
The Age of Enlightenment, a movement during the 17th and 18th century started from the Europeans,
later moving into American colonies. The point of this movement was for the society to reform on a
new base such as emphasizing reason and individualism over tradition. Enlightenment thinkers,
Montesquieu, Rousseau, Beccaria, Locke, and Voltaire helped launched this project amongst
Europeans. John Locke, for example, criticized absolute monarchy and favored self government.
Voltaire also believed that people should be able to speak their minds without the fear they may be
punished. Through these philosophy influence, this eventually leads to European rulers ruling with a
sense of equality, democratic governance, and abolition. John Locke known as an Enlightenment
thinker believed in the equality between men. A state also of equality, wherein all the power and
jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one having more than another...by an evident and clear appointment, an
undoubted right to dominion and sovereignty (Doc. 2). John Locke stated this in 1690 with the
meaning that everyone is equal no matter what their rank or power may be. They must all have the

Cruel Optimism And Grotesque In Winesburg, Ohio
Cruel Optimism and Grotesque in Hands , Winesburg, Ohio
Sherwood Anderson (1876 1941), an American short story writer and novelist, is famous for
subjective and self revealing works. In Winesburg, Ohio (1919), a collection of short stories, Anderson
wrote about citizens in Winesburg, Ohio; most of the characters are grotesque, misunderstanding,
inability to articulate, and alienation in society. The grotesques should be pitied rather than dismissed.
They have dream of ambition; they try to live for their desire; however, their dream that they
embraced become a falsehood. In the link with Anderson s idea, Lauren Berlant, George M. Pullman

Sandy Hearst Argumentative Essay
After the trial and listening to the statements of the prosecutors involved, it is now up to the jury to
decide what happens in this case. Dana Ivy is said to have been drunk, which resulted in a car accident
on the morning of December 17. However, the defensive side says she was not intoxicated and that
was not the cause of this accident occurring at the intersection of Justice and Eagle street. This
accident resulted in severe injuries to Terry Vickers, the other citizen involved in this accident. Terry
Vickers wants to charge Sandy Hearst, the host of a party that occurred on the night of December 16,

people at the party, making it easier for Dana to blend in. However, if Dana was acting different from

How Congress Constructs Its Acts
In order to advance the acumen of how Congress constructs its acts from inception to enactment, there
are various methodologies one can use. With that in mind, this exploration aligns to the Analytical
Framework methodology as described in our class textbook, The Struggle for Democracy by authors
Edward Greenberg and Benjamin Page. Thus, the congressional act I ve chosen to examine is the
Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 as it s of immense importance to all Americans. Specifically,
this act addresses the fundamental need of our nation s workforce as it relates to work/life balance;
therefore, by providing the context of the reasons why such a law emerged, identifying the
collaborating actors in the creation and implementation of the law, articulating the process of
enactments, as well as outlining out its path to enactment using the Analytical Framework, this
exploration will increase its reader s competency of knowledge about what transpired in passing the
Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Likewise, the organization of this examination comprises of
four main sections correlating with the horizontal segments (levels) of the Analytical Framework. To
begin, the first section interprets the foundation of the FMLA by providing the historical background,
the economic and social environment of the American workforce prior to the FMLA, along with
previous legislation attempts and information on various legislative acts which are in similar
alignment with the FMLA:

Essay about Your Inner Fish

30 August 2010 Your Inner Fish Your Inner Fish, by Neil Shubin, is a journey into the 3.5 billion year
history of the human body. It is filled with many interesting topics covering the subject. The four
topics I liked from it were: Getting a Grip, Handy Genes, Teeth Everywhere, and Adventures in Body
Building. I feel these topics gave key information about our past. Chapter 2, Getting a Grip, talks
about the connections between the human and other creatures limbs. It also talks about Shubin s fossil,

The DNA contains the information needed to make up our body and even our hands. During the third
to eighth week of conception, fingers, arm bones, and toes are being formed. Limbs start off as buds
that then extend outward. This is all due to the DNA that is in each and every cell in the body. To
understand how this pattern happens, scientists take a look at embryos. Sometimes they interfere with
the development to see what occurs when things go wrong. Scientists use chicken eggs to study this.
Just by adding a dab of vitamin A on a chicken embryo, you will get a mirror image of the embryo.
The patch of tissue is called ZPA. Every living thing is composed up of cells that contain DNA. The

The Pros And Cons Of The Overland Campaign
The Overland Campaign, which saw the bloodiest fighting in the continent of North American, was a
necessary evil to end the American Civil War. Starting on May 4th of 1864, the newly promoted
Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant committed to destroying Robert E. Lee and his Army of Northern
Virginia in the field. First, one must look at what the Overland Campaign entailed. Next, this paper
will examine previous major Northern victories and consider the differences between them and Grant
s campaign. Finally, one can come to the conclusion that the Overland Campaign effectively helped
end the war and without it, fighting was sure to be prolonged. After his successes in the West, U. S.
Grant became the first Lieutenant General since George Washington on March 2nd of 1864 and
assumed command of the entire Union Army. Hopes were high for General Grant, seen in a letter the
previous year, President Abraham Lincoln expressed his trust for Grant when he that he originally
feared it was a mistake in regards to his attack on Vicksburg and I now wish to make the personal
acknowledgment that you were right, and I was wrong. Heretofore, Union Generals in the East
focused on capturing specific cities, however, Grant wanted to cripple the Confederate Army. In a
letter from Grant to Major General George Meade before the Overland Campaign began, he outlined
his intentions of the operation, writing that Lee s army will be your objective point. Wherever Lee
goes, there you will go

Analysis Of Pirates Of The Caribbean
Disneyland produced a wonderful series of movie named Pirates of the Caribbean. It was so popular
that was nominated and won several movie awards such Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and
MTV Movie Awards. There is a series of movie and On Stranger Tides is the movie that has the lowest
CinemaScore. It was directed by Rob Marshall and screenplay by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio on
2011. The main characters in this movie are Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Penélope Cruz as
Angelica, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, and Ian McShane as Blackbeard. Many critics
consider this installment as the worst film of Pirates of the Caribbean because it was nonsense,
overstuffed, and no certain protagonist. Nevertheless, everything in the On Stranger Tides has
meaning and Jack Sparrow still lead the whole plot.
Critics of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides are mostly disliking the movie. Dana Stevens
think that it is a bad movie because it is overlong, overstuffed, and extremely loud. (Dana) One critic
by Mick LaSalle says that Captain Jack is not even the center of Pirates of the Caribbean. The main
character is the women and the other captain. It is nonsense that Captain Jack try to figure our the
elusive fountain of youth. Moreover, Captain Jack is going around killing people without need or
purpose. Mick thinks that the movie is nothing and the conversations are invariable and useless. It is
boring and no exciting moments. (Mick)Christopher Orr criticize

The Goal Setting Goals And Goals
Setting goals is an idea many people use to help accomplish tasks, and reach them in a certain amount
of time. Implementing plans in an effective step in the right direction toward accomplishing a desired
goal. Students, teachers, people in the work place; everyone sets goals whether we are aware of the
goal setting or subconsciously setting goals. Goals can be long term or short term depending on how
big the goal is. I, myself here at Marywood have set some goals. One long term and one short term.
My short term goal is to achieve a CSAC Championship with my soccer team this year. My long term
goal is to maintain at least a 3.3 GPA throughout my college career. I intend on using the core values
from here at Marywood to help me achieve my goals I have set. Three of the five values with
specifically help me in my case; empowerment respect and excellence will ultimately help me
maintain my goals and excel in life.
Empowerment is defined in the Marywood handbook as, access to education that enables all to
achieve their full potential to live as conscientious citizens in a pluralistic society. Though one of my
goals in not academic; I still believe that empowerment will allow me to fulfill my goal of obtaining a
CSAC Championship title this year for soccer. Every team wants to win their league, and my team and
I here at Marywood University are striving to win the league this year. To achieve my full access to
athletic potential to succeed I will work hard on and off the field.

Dr. Seuss Stereotypes
Now, you all know Dr Seuss. Who doesn t, right? He s a legend! Green Eggs and Ham, Cat in the Hat,
One Fish Two Fish... there can t be a single person under the age of 60 that doesn t know about him,
right? Such a great guy, really, a lovely dude. Except when it comes to the case of racism, especially
towards the Japanese during World War 2. We all know that people from different countries look
different, and we all know that it s not politically correct or socially acceptable in any way to call
people out on these differences. But Dr Seuss used his cartoons to do exactly this, portraying the
Japanese as inhumane, un relatable, animalistic creatures. And it s these kind of generalisations that
still exist to cause stereotypes today. Take

Montessori Schools Are The Best For Our Future Generations
Montessori Schools In today s world, we can find hundreds of schools all around us, but we can t
figure out which one is best for our future generations. One of the most outstanding schools are the
Montessori schools. According to the American Montessori Society the Montessori schools are based
on the observation of the students, letting the students choose what they want to do, letting the
students rely on themselves for almost everything, and the teachers are there to only help and observe
the students. The famous Maria Montessori said, The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be
able to say, The children are now working as if I did not exist . This approach was found a hundred
years ago by a physician named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You d probably find a child sitting on a table and having a snack, another child painting, another child
learning about Africa, and so on. As for the teachers in Montessori schools, they don t have anything
to do with the child s work, each child is responsible for his or her own work the teacher only guides
and observes. For Maria Montessori once said, Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can
succeed (Xu, 2017). Moving on to another reason why Montessori schools are the best for our future
generations is that Montessori schools teaches students to enjoy what they are learning. Montessori
schools are based on the role of the environment and freedom. This means that the children are not
locked up in chairs and rules. They can do whatever they want as long as it is in the classroom setting,
they can wander around the classroom and pick whatever activity they feel like doing. Being able to
move freely in a classroom can help improve cognitive and social development, it even can help with
mental development depending on the movement in the classroom, where all of this is called the
instrument of the intelligence. There is nothing a child hates than to tell him to sit in one place for a
long period. Montessori schools are also based on teaching their students throughout activities. For
example, if you visit a Montessori classroom while teaching history, you won t find the students
sitting in one place looking

Is Santa Really Real Research Paper
Is Santa Claus Really Real?
BY Aadi
Christmas is around the corner and excitement is on. Santa is checking off his last list of gifts and
everyone is happy. But wait, is there a real Santa anyways?
The long awaited moment of truth has recently been discovered and it proves that Santa, the red suited
guy who hopped through our chimneys, is real. Many adults, nowadays, once used to believe when
they were kids that Santa is Real and he comes with his reindeers to give them gifts, unfortunately, it
was not really the Santa who came and gifted them, but it was their parents.
The myths of the existence of Santa was still like a mystery to a lot.
Mr. Torda, a Biology teacher in the Mayfield High school and the head of the Science Department,
said, When I was a kid, I wondered if Santa was real or not. Like when my parents used to say to me,
There is this guy named Santa, who had a workshop and build all the toys, wraps them, deliver them
and like that. Many kids in the present moment wonder about Santa, and the reindeers, and the stories
of Santa make them believe that a guy with flying reindeers would ride his sleigh all the way to give
the kids, some awesome presents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Key Elements Of A Stress Management Program
1. Three things are necessary for stress to occur: a stressor, a perception of stress, and a stress
response. The three main elements of a stress management program include the
elimination/modification/reduction of the number of stressors, an alteration of our perceptions, and the
reduction/modification/control of the stress response.
2. Often, when we think of stress, we automatically think of the bad kind. In all reality, stress isn t
always a bad thing; it is just the body s response to changes that create some demands in our lives.
There are many different positive stressors that are short term and motivate us as we work to improve
our performance in our day to day lives. It is important to note that these positive stressors have the
potential to cause some distress at a certain point. There is a peak at which stress switches from
eustress to distress. Eustress or good stress increases performance up to the peak. Once the peak is
reached, distress or bad stress kicks in and performance declines. When that certain amount of stress is
reached and the tipping point occurs, we may need to use various stress management strategies to help
us get back on the right track and alleviate some of this distress we are feeling.
3. Stress, to a certain degree, is a necessity in our lives. It gives us precious, powerful fight or flight
hormones that have the ability to keep us safe in times of danger. Along with that, small amounts of
stress often help us perform tasks more

Essay about Pagan Aspects in Beowulf
Scholars have argued about the religious stance of the epic poem Beowulf for centuries. Although the
man who put the poem down on paper, known as the Beowulf poet, was a devout Christian, the actual
poem itself is pagan. There are many clues in the epic that lead us to this conclusion such as the
numerous references to pagan symbols, namely the symbol of fate. Also, the central idea of revenge in
the poem opposes the ideas of Christianity. The poem also contains many breaches of the Ten
Commandments, which prove that the story is not Christian. However, the biggest clue to the
paganism of Beowulf is the scene that contains the burial of Beowulf and the building and idolization
of the tower, all of which go directly against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no evidence anywhere that leads us to believe that poison is part of the Christian religion,
again emphasizing the paganism of the poem. Although all of these are important pagan symbols that
lead us to believe that this poem is not Christian, probably the most significant pagan symbol is that of
fate. The idea of fate ruled the lives of the pagans. Their belief was that you were born with a fate, and
there was nothing that could change this destiny. This idea becomes apparent in Beowulf several
times. As Beowulf is dying he refers to his leaving this earth as just part of his destiny when he says
that [m]y days have gone by as fate willed (Norton 1604). The idea of fate is called on again when
Beowulf asks Wiglaf to succeed him as king of the Geats. He tells Wiglaf that he would have given
the honor to his son, if he had one, but fate did not allow it. We see a reference to fate a final time
when Wiglaf speaks of Beowulf after his death. He offers that as much as Beowulf s people tried to
convince him to leave well enough alone, to allow the monster to live on forever, there was no
changing Beowulf s destiny. Beowulf s [f]ate, and his will, [w]ere too strong (Norton 1611). Fate is
clearly a non Christian idea, and its presence in the poem helps the case for Beowulf being a pagan
story.
A huge theme in Beowulf is the revenge ethic that all of the characters possess. During the time in

Iran Nuclear Deal Case Study
The Iran Nuclear Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was formally
adopted on October 18th, 2015 by Iran, Germany, and the UN Security Council consisting of Britain,
China, France, Russia, and the United States. It enabled Iran to peacefully pursue nuclear program so
long as it did not weaponize the program and it removed American sanctions and European embargos.
In recent weeks, President Donald Trump has made efforts to eliminate the agreement or at least
severely limit the program. To regulate the program, the international agreement states that Iran must

Even without nuclear weapons, Iran represents a threat to Americans. With the introduction of the Iran
Nuclear Deal, Iran has been emboldened and arrested several Americans under false pretenses. A total
of four Americans have been detained by the Iranian government since the JCPOA was implemented
(CNN). Others have been detained for having American ties.
Moreover, the UN s International Atomic Energy Agency recently admitted that, though they
technically should be able to access all Iranian military sites, they can t actually search military
affiliated sites (Washington Post). Top adviser to Iran s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, went
so far as to call the US s call for further inspections as a dream that would never be possible. Without
access to the military sites, it is impossible to verify that Tehran is implementing the deal. The United
States has no true knowledge about whether Iran is working on the development of nuclear weapons
or not.
It is however known that Iran has aggressively been working towards its ballistic missile program
despite defiance of Security Council resolutions. With the demise of Iranian sanctions, Iran was free to
enter new market. They then invested their proceeds into their ballistic missile program. Iran acts as a
significant threat to close American ally, Israel. It in fact inscribed Israel must be wiped out in Hebrew

Many different variables play a part in finding a solution to help end child labor. Unfortunately, this
form of labor plays a large role in Mexico s economy. Although the country has anti child labor laws,
the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the children to
work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the
North American Free Trade Agreement) look at solutions to help boost Mexico s economy, large
international corporations enter the country s struggling economy capitalizing on it s low cost
manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. Solutions must be looked at in order to stop
kids from working their childhood away instead of getting an education to ultimately help Mexico s
economy.
The link between Mexico and poverty is a large reason why children are forced to work in factories.
Poverty began to be an issue for Mexico starting many years ago. In the 1940s, when industrialization
began taking place, Mexico s economy was growing at a rate of 6 per cent per year (Latapi and
Gonzalez). This increase in the economy created two new social classes: the urban middle class and
the new working class. By the late 70s, at least half of the working middle class held jobs related in
manufacturing (Latapi and Gonzalez). This employment gave wages high enough to allow one worker

Bruno Mars Grenade
In this generation, many popular musicians express the hardships brought forth by unrequited love in
their songs. It is probably one of the most commonly conveyed subjects. Music artists such as Bruno
Mars and his songs like Grenade is no exception to this popular trend. In the song Grenade, he reveals
his persistent devotion for a girl. Lamentably, as a victim of unilateral love, he is inferior in the
relationship. In the song, the girl seizes the dominant ability to manipulate Bruno Mars physical well
being and emotional negatively by being uninterested towards his love, and positively refusing to
return his affection. From such a position of inferiority, Mars uses numerous rhetorical strategies such
as literary devices, logical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Bruno Mars exhibits the extreme elongate to which he genuinely loves the girl in the song,
determined to persuade his audience that the girl should love him back. Mars uses words which allude
to violence, such as grenade , blade, and bullet to illustrate his deposition to experience physical pain
for the girl s affection. He constantly uses these words to indicate that these destructive weapons will
not hinder his obsessive love for her. In the chorus, his obsession with the girl is made even more
obvious because he proclaims that he would catch a grenade for her, throw his hands on a blade for
her, jump in front of a train for her, and take a bullet straight through his brain. His eagerness to make
such sacrifices is intentionally detailed in the chorus which, through repetition, places emphasis on
these phrases. These phrases or hyperboles integrate to Mars ethos because they enhanced his
character by disclosing his authentic commitment to sacrificing his entire life for the girl. In turn, the
ethos of credibility convinces the audience to take his side.
Mar s most vigorous appeal in this particular song is his emotional appeal, or pathos. While building
the legitimacy of his own character, he utilizes pathos in order to persuade his audience into
cerebrating that the girl should love him back. He does this by portraying

Of the many changes Alan was making within the organization, it seemed there were many employees
who were resistant to those changes. These employees were not accustomed to the type of structure
Alan was wanting to put in place. Alan, immediately noticing the direct resistance, would sit back and
ponder the ways he could become more influential.
Alan had identified the fact that he needed to improve employee moral overall. There were doctors
who had self entitlement issues and those who felt seniority or patient volumes were enough to get
whatever they pleased. Doctors were also not excited with the implementation of the new electronic
medical records system. However, nurses were content with the idea that this new implementation

If we understand change better, we will be able to influence (but not control) it for the better (Fullan,

seem like an inopportune time for our staff to be unsettled, but this is the best opportunity to identify
and create breakthroughs (Fullan, 2014). When analyzing the structure for a change initiative, strategic
planning must first take place. What problems are foreseen or obvious? Are there

The Importance Of Sedentary Lifestyles In Students s Life
Slowly rubbing your groggy eyes and waking up to lazily drive the short distance to school. In class
nodding off to the drone of the teacher s drawling voice, the dull clacking of the Chromebooks around
you. Sleepily dragging your feet to the next class, only to remain in the same stiff chair for the entirety
of the class period. These are the sedentary lifestyle actions that far are too familiar in high schoolers
lives. These students will then grow up and likely befall to the life of a sedentary adult as well. This is
why it is essential to alter these habits while these students are young. One can observe these
unhealthy routines at school each day and I propose a movement to permute this standard at North
High School. The staff at North High School should encourage and implement additional physical
activity options for the students at North High School in order to enhance their health and assist them
in developing healthy habits.
Developing these healthy habits at North High School is vital to students health now and in the future.
This issue is relevant today due to the issues that sedentary lifestyles cause and the benefits that
exercise can lead to. One problem that a sedentary lifestyle can produce is obesity. According to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 17 percent of children aged two to 19 are obese, while
36.5 percent of adults in the United States are obese as well ( Obesity ). This statistic exhibits the fact
that the problem of obesity

Kirschner, who had attracted the above individuals based on his compelling vision that they would be

The manager of the local National Video Store sells videocassette recorders at discount prices. If the store does not have a video recorder in stock when a customer wants to buy one, it will lose the sale because the customer will purchase a recorder from one of the many local competitors. The problem is that the cost of renting warehouse space to keep enough recorders in inventory to meet all demand is excessively high. The manager has determined that if 90% of customer demand for recorders can be met, then the combined cost of lost sales and inventory will be minimized. The manager has estimated that monthly demand for recorders is normally distributed, with a mean of 180 recorders and a standard deviation of 60. As Exhibit 1 suggests, the company require about $4.8 billion during 1984 and 1990. This is basically due to the required new capex during the same period, which will be accumulated to $10.2 billion, and the increase of cash holding, $2.0 billion, as a use of funds and the company can generate funds from operation, only $7.8 billion. Therefore, the company needs to fill the gap by sourcing external finance of about $4.8 billion. This amount will vary depending primarily on two factors; 1) whether MCI can expand market share as forecasted amid the increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why? • 4. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act In 2008, the American economy broke down. Known as the Global Financial Crisis, this is widely considered to be the worst financial crisis since the 1930 s when the stock market crashed and the Great Depression hit. On November 4, 2008, candidate Barack Obama was elected for the first term of his presidency. The following February, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 or the ARRA was signed into effect by congress, and made into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009. This stimulus package was originally proposed to be 816 billion dollars, but was eventually raised to be 840 billion dollars in 2012. The purpose of this bill was to inspire confidence in the American people that the economy would be up and running again. The ARRA was intended to give money back to small businesses as well as the American families who ran and worked at these businesses. This varies from TARP, or the Troubled Asset Recovery Program, which was a bill that was aimed at bailing out banks in October 2008. TARP worked to allow banks in danger to participate in reverse auction, in order to sell their assets. In order to restore hope and eventually safeguard 900,000 2.3 million jobs, the ARRA was intended to be spent over the course of a decade. It was very strategically planned, however, not to be spent evenly during that time. Instead, the following arrangements were made: 185 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2009; 400 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2010; and 135 billion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Billy Beane And Moneyball Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, by Michael Lewis is a book that discusses how the Oakland Athletics became a baseball powerhouse despite having one of the smallest budgets. The man who is the architect of this franchise is Billy Beane, an ex player turned general manager. Beane was a player who had all of the physical tools old school scouts look for, however he turned out to be a disappointment; instead of falling into the trap other general managers fell into, he looked for a competitive edge, a new market inefficiency. He was not afraid to go against the norm, he made a team with the second smallest budget into a powerhouse, and he inspired an entire new era of successful general managers, as well as impacting people in other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most notable executives inspired by Beane is Theo Epstein, a Yale graduate who talked with Beane as much as possible when he was the assistant general manager in the Red Sox franchise and due to his frequent conversations with Beane, Epstein becomes obsessed with high on base percentage players, such as Kevin Youkilis (Lewis 211). Inspired by Billy Beane, Theo Epstein leads the Boston Red Sox to two World Series titles in nine years, placing a heavy emphasis on on base percentage; The Red Sox never placed below second in annual on base percentage during Epstein s tenure as general manager, and now Epstein is recreating the same philosophy in Chicago (ESPN). Another baseball general manager who was tremendously influenced by Billy Beane was Andrew Friedman; facing a tight budget in Tampa Bay much like Beane in Oakland, he drafted many college players and he led a mediocre franchise to four playoff appearances through following Billy Beane s philosophy (Vice Sports). The Pittsburgh Pirates and their general manager, Neal Huntington have taken Beane s philosophy to a whole different level; he hired people out of Ivy League schools just like Beane, however Huntington hired many more specific analysts. Huntington hired Baseball Prospectus s Dan Fox to build the structure of their proprietary database, while also being an analyst for the Pirates, also Mike Fitzgerald was hired as an analyst who even traveled with the team on the road; over the years the Pirates analytical team built a relationship with the players and the coaching staff, to the point where the analytical group became a key part of the team, even more so than the Oakland A s and Billy Beane (Sloan Sports Conference). Billy Beane s impact has spread even beyond baseball; it has spread to soccer, american football, and basketball, one example of a soccer team following Beane s philosophy is FC ... • 7. Michelle Obama Speech Analysis In the midst of the 2016 election, First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama gave a speech in New Hampshire regarding the candidates. Donald Trump was facing Hillary Clinton; and in support, Michelle Obama presented a Speech On Donald Trump s Alleged Treatment Of Women. As stated in the title, Trump had recently made rude remarks regarding women, and Michelle Obama was using this as a learning lesson for anyone looking to vote for Trump. She made it a point to vote for Hillary by not only stating why not to vote for Trump, but also listing her many accomplishments throughout her lifetime. Michelle Obama was able to create an effective and persuasive speech by strongly stating Trump s wrongdoings, passionately listing Clinton s achievements, and frightening us of the possible future for our children. Obama s reasoning develops ideas that help connect her claim and evidence using the rhetoric device of ethos. She quotes, ...we have a candidate... [that] has said things about women that are so shocking, so demeaning that I simply will not repeat anything here today. And last week I saw this candidate actually bragging about sexually assaulting women, (Obama, 2016). Obama explains the terrible acts Trump has done to help her argument in why citizens should vote for Hillary and not Trump. Obama spoke about the frequent sexual assault Trump has been associated with. Multiple times, he has spoken inappropriately towards women. By First Lady Obama mentioning this, she is ... Since this is one of the only malls near this campus, this is one of the only places for college students to shop. Also, there are many restaurants and other stores around that attract people to this area. From our experience of being students here, we know that we go to Target a lot to shop. Therefore, choosing to locate the store near a college campus and not a small town probably helps sales dramatically. College students are also at the age where they prefer to work out quite often, so Target is in the perfect place for customers that desire more active wear clothing. There are not many other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We feel that it would have been easier to shop if all leggings styles were next to each other, all tank top styles were next to each other, all sports bras next to each other, and so on. We found the same exact pair of leggings on two different sides of the section. This could keep a customer from finding an appropriate size, which could result in Target losing a sale. Thus, although the active wear section itself was very easy to find, making shopability easy, the styles of clothing themselves were very spread out making shopability difficult. Therefore, we believe Target deserves a grade of a three for this topic, as it isn t terrible but definitely could be improved. Promotion/Marketing of Product Rating: 5 We were very impressed by how well Target marketed the C9 Champion brand. There was signage all around the active wear section, including a large sign along the aisle with a logo by the mannequin, signage on top of clothing racks, on the sides of clothing racks, and extra detail on the hangtags. The signs portrayed the goal or mission behind the brand: Freedom, Premium, and Embrace. Hangtags specified which of these the style of legging was, also including more information about the product such as Duo Dry+, reflective lighting, zip pocket, soft comfortable fabric, ventilated zones for breathability, and more. • 10. High Level Writing Is Vital For My Current Standings As A... Higher level writing is vital for my current standings as a college student and my future endeavors. In order to receive positive responses on any papers or discussions, I must be able to properly write on a college level. I have continuously worked on my writing skills throughout English 101 and 102 and hope the skills I have gained in these courses will prepare me to write on an intellectual level. Looking back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback from peers and my instructor, I have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This past semester I was required to create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay, Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these papers entailed vigorous research and time. My writing has progressively improved throughout the semester in quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic appropriate sources; however, I must strive to improve in general writing skills covering organization, style, diction, grammar, and mechanics. The three main elements of a stress management program include the elimination/modification/reduction of the number of stressors, an alteration of our perceptions, and the reduction/modification/control of the stress response. 2. Often, when we think of stress, we automatically think of the bad kind. In all reality, stress isn t always a bad thing; it is just the body s response to changes that create some demands in our lives. There are many different positive stressors that are short term and motivate us as we work to improve our performance in our day to day lives. It is important to note that these positive stressors have the potential to cause some distress at a certain point. There is a peak at which stress switches from eustress to distress. Eustress or good stress increases performance up to the peak. Once the peak is reached, distress or bad stress kicks in and performance declines. When that certain amount of stress is reached and the tipping point occurs, we may need to use various stress management strategies to help us get back on the right track and alleviate some of this distress we are feeling. 3. Also, the central idea of revenge in the poem opposes the ideas of Christianity. The poem also contains many breaches of the Ten Commandments, which prove that the story is not Christian. Although all of these are important pagan symbols that lead us to believe that this poem is not Christian, probably the most significant pagan symbol is that of fate. The idea of fate ruled the lives of the pagans. Their belief was that you were born with a fate, and there was nothing that could change this destiny. This idea becomes apparent in Beowulf several times. As Beowulf is dying he refers to his leaving this earth as just part of his destiny when he says that [m]y days have gone by as fate willed (Norton 1604). The idea of fate is called on again when Beowulf asks Wiglaf to succeed him as king of the Geats. He tells Wiglaf that he would have given the honor to his son, if he had one, but fate did not allow it. We see a reference to fate a final time when Wiglaf speaks of Beowulf after his death. He offers that as much as Beowulf s people tried to convince him to leave well enough alone, to allow the monster to live on forever, there was no changing Beowulf s destiny. Beowulf s [f]ate, and his will, [w]ere too strong (Norton 1611). Fate is clearly a non Christian idea, and its presence in the poem helps the case for Beowulf being a pagan story. In the chorus, his obsession with the girl is made even more obvious because he proclaims that he would catch a grenade for her, throw his hands on a blade for her, jump in front of a train for her, and take a bullet straight through his brain. His eagerness to make such sacrifices is intentionally detailed in the chorus which, through repetition, places emphasis on these phrases. These phrases or hyperboles integrate to Mars ethos because they enhanced his character by disclosing his authentic commitment to sacrificing his entire life for the girl. In turn, the ethos of credibility convinces the audience to take his side. Mar s most vigorous appeal in this particular song is his emotional appeal, or pathos. While building the legitimacy of his own character, he utilizes pathos in order to persuade his audience into cerebrating that the girl should love him back. He does this by portraying ... A Cardiologist At The Southeastern Pennsylvania University A cardiologist at the Southeastern Pennsylvania University Hospital by the name of Alan Kendricks had recently been promoted as medical director. Within this new promotion, he brought with him great change. The medical director before Alan had a laissez faire approach, while Alan had a more interactive approach to leading. Although Alan came with great credentials, the medical staff Alan was now in charge of was timid of this new change. A few employees who were not too keen on the new changes, abandoned ship once they heard of the change in leadership and the changes that were about to come. Alan brought many changes to the table, with those many changes, came great trials. Employees were not receptive to their new leader and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of the many changes Alan was making within the organization, it seemed there were many employees who were resistant to those changes. These employees were not accustomed to the type of structure Alan was wanting to put in place. Alan, immediately noticing the direct resistance, would sit back and ponder the ways he could become more influential. Alan had identified the fact that he needed to improve employee moral overall. There were doctors who had self entitlement issues and those who felt seniority or patient volumes were enough to get whatever they pleased. Doctors were also not excited with the implementation of the new electronic medical records system. However, nurses were content with the idea that this new implementation now allowed them to focus on other important matters such as better patient care (Groysberg, Kaftan McCalla, 2007). Opportunities/Suggestions/Tactics If we understand change better, we will be able to influence (but not control) it for the better (Fullan, 2014). When change in a culture is in effect, the organizational culture tends to be unsettled. This may seem like an inopportune time for our staff to be unsettled, but this is the best opportunity to identify and create breakthroughs (Fullan, 2014). When analyzing the structure for a change initiative, strategic planning must first take place. What problems are foreseen or obvious? Are there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Importance Of Sedentary Lifestyles In Students s Life Slowly rubbing your groggy eyes and waking up to lazily drive the short distance to school. In class nodding off to the drone of the teacher s drawling voice, the dull clacking of the Chromebooks around you. Sleepily dragging your feet to the next class, only to remain in the same stiff chair for the entirety of the class period. These are the sedentary lifestyle actions that far are too familiar in high schoolers lives. These students will then grow up and likely befall to the life of a sedentary adult as well. This is why it is essential to alter these habits while these students are young. One can observe these unhealthy routines at school each day and I propose a movement to permute this standard at North High School. The staff at North High School should encourage and implement additional physical activity options for the students at North High School in order to enhance their health and assist them in developing healthy habits. Developing these healthy habits at North High School is vital to students health now and in the future. • 37. THE MERIT CORPORATION 1 THE MERIT CORPORATION Family owned and operated for three generations, the Merit Corporation manufactured and sold children s furniture. John Kirschner, Merit s CEO and grandson of the company s founder, was actively involved with every aspect of the firm s operations. Now, as he was considering early retirement in the next few years, he began to think about his legacy for the future. Merit s headquarters and the biggest of its three manufacturing plants were located in an industrial park 10 miles outside of Boston. Merit shared the large six story building with several small firms, having its corporate offices on the second and third floors. Employees began work promptly at 8:30 a.m. and most left before 6:00 p.m. A devout family man, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kirschner, who had attracted the above individuals based on his compelling vision that they would be doing something completely different and of vital importance, believed that the group would be most effective if given extensive freedom and encouragement. The only things he required from it was a biweekly progress report, so that the executive committee could be kept abreast of its activities, and a monthly financial report. Group members were free to work as they wished; as long as they focused their energies on coming up with viable ideas for durable, multipurpose children s furniture products those consumers would consider a good value. The only structure he imposed was having one person report directly to him. Thus, he appointed Kane the group head, in large measure because Kane was the first to be hired, but also because he had made such a positive impression on him. When the eight people began work at Merit, they did not know each other. Given Kirschner s rather broad mandate, they also did not know what they would be expected to do on a daily basis. They soon discovered that they had different ideas not only about what they should do, but also about how they should approach their work. Those like Jacobson, who had worked in large corporate environments in the past, were the most outspoken about how the group should approach its task. He was a proponent of a more systematic approach. Kiris was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
