Rationale
PDHPE rationale helps outline and give children the
knowledge, skills and values required to live a healthy,
            active and self fulfilling life.
 It is becoming increasingly important
especially in our youth that we encourage
the learning of healthy lifestyles. This will
allow them to achieve their greatest chance
of attaining mental, physical, social and
spiritual wellbeing. It will give them the
control they will need to make these
decisions. We also aim to create more
positive relationships. It is a responsibility of
all parts of society to understand health, as
it is not only important to understand the
health of self but the health of others now
  and for the future.
 Encourages understanding of self and
others to work more cooperatively in a
  team
 Promotes physical activity by giving
knowledge of amounts of physical activity
required for each stage of life
 Emphasises decision making for
  responsible action regarding their own
  lifestyles
 Physical, social, cognitive and emotional
development to create self confidence and
  self acceptance by understanding life’s
  changes
 Development of positive interpersonal
relationships to create a sense of belonging
  and security
 Factors influencing personal health choices
with more appropriate health attitudes and
  behaviours
 Values and attitudes: committment to a
holistic healthy and social way of living
 Skills: development and encouragement
  of communication, health decisions,
  confidence and forming positive
  relationships

and community health and wellbeing as
  well as performance of movement
