This document summarizes a presentation on prestressed concrete. It begins with an introduction to prestressed concrete and how it overcomes weaknesses in concrete in tension. It then describes the principles of prestressing by inducing compressive stresses with high-strength tendons before loads are applied. The document compares reinforced concrete with prestressed concrete and describes the methods of pre-tensioning and post-tensioning. It provides examples of prestressed concrete structures like beams, bridges and discusses advantages like reduced size and increased spans as well as disadvantages like higher material costs.

A crack is a complete or incomplete separation of concrete into two or more parts produced by breaking or fracturing.
Cracks are one kind of universal problems of concrete construction as it affects the building artistic and it also destroys the wall’s integrity, affects the structure safety and even reduce the durability of structure
Carbon dioxide penetrates into the concrete through the cracks and speed up carbonation around the cracks, thus shortening the structure usage.
The cracks in the concrete wall would cause the leakage of the building; it reduces the stiffness, durability and seismic performance of buildings.
Cracks on the wall surface damage to the later rendering, will affect to the appearance.
A RCC bridge is a monolithic structure that is poured in place. Forms are placed, the reinforcing steel is placed into the forms and a concrete mix is poured into the forms. The rebar extends beyond the form to allow connection to the next section to be poured. In a PSC structure the elements are precast either in a yard or onsite. They are cast with longitudinal holes to allow the prestressing strands to be extended between them. These strands use their tension to pull the units together and to act as reinforcement by prestreeing the entirety of the structure to make it stronger.
Concrete is the most widely used construction material in India with annual consumption exceeding 100 million cubic meters.
High performance concrete is a concrete in which certain characteristics are developed for a particular application and environment, so that it will give excellent performance in the structure in which it will be placed.
A high-strength concrete is always a high performance concrete, but a high-performance concrete is not always a high-strength concrete.

Post-tensioning is a technique for reinforcing concrete structures. The prestressing steel cables inside the sleeves or plastic ducts are positioned in the forms before placing the concrete. As the concrete gains strength, the cables are stressed to design forces before the application of the service load and are anchored att the outer edge region of the concrete.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

3. INTRODUCTION
Prestressed concrete is method for
overcoming natural weakness in
tension .It can be used to produce
beams floors or bridges with a longer
span than is practical with ordinary
reinforced concrete .It is often to use
in commercial and residential
construction as a beam and slab
4. PRINCIPLE OF PRESTRESSED
The principle behind Prestressed concrete is that
compressive stresses induced by high strength steel
tendons in a concrete member before loads are applied
will balance the tensile stresses imposed in the member
during services.
Prestressed concrete is basically concrete in which internal
stresses of a suitable magnitude and distribution are
introduced so that the stresses resulting from the external
loads are counteracted to a desired degree.
5. Comparison between R.C.C. and P.S.C.:-
R.C.C P.S.C.
1)30%-40% of total cross section is
used.
1)100% cross section is used.
2)Economical upto 12m 2)Economical from 12-30m
3)Self weight of section is more. 3)Self weight of section is less.
4)Cracking and corrosion problems
are more.
4)No cracking or corrosion
problem.
5)Reinforcement is straight. 5)Tendons can be bent or parabolic.
6)Tension is developed below
neutral axis.
6)Whole cross section is in
compression.
7)Stresses develop after loading. 7)Stresses develop before loading.
9. PRE-TENSIONING
Pre-tensioning is a method where
prestressing steels are prestressed,prior
to concreting against two rigid
abutments .This method is most widely
use for mass production of short span
structures, where prestressing is also a
prerequisite, such as railway slippers,
electric poles, fencing poles,
pretensioned slab and I-section bridge
gurders etc.
11. POST-TENSIONING
Post-tensioning is method where prestressing steels are stressed
after concrete attains its preliminary strength. Two extreme ends
of the structures are considered as a reaction face, against which
force is applied. Ducts are placed inside the formwork along with
reinforcement and the concreting is completed. After achieving
required concrete strength, stipulated
numbers of prestrssing steel is then inserted in each duct for
stressing purpose. After achieving elongation
and stresses they are blocked at two ends with the help of anchor
plates and grip.

27. ADVANTAGES OF
PRESTRESSED STRUCTURE
• The size or dimensions of structural members are reduced, which may increase the
clearances or reduce storey heights.
• It permits the use of large spans (greater than 30 m) with shallow members, even when
heavy load are encountered.
• In addition to general advantages, such as excellent fire resistance, low maintenance costs,
elegance, high corrosion-resistance, adaptability etc, the prestressed concrete is found to
sustain the effects of impact or shock and vibrations.
• Because of smaller loads due to smaller dimensions being used, there is considerable saving
cost of supporting members and foundations.
• The prestressing technique has eliminated the weakness of concrete in tension and hence
crack free members of structure are obtained.
• Because of better material (i.e. controlled concrete and high tension steel) being used and
nullifying the effect of dead loads, smaller deflections are caused.
28. DISADVANTAGES
• The unit cost of high strength materials being used is
higher.
• Extra initial cost is incurred due to use of
prestressing equipment and its installation.
• Extra labour cost for prestressing is also there.
• Prestressing is uneconomical for short spans and
light loads
29. CONCLUSION
This Technical Seminar program was an excellent
opportunity to get to the knowledge of particular a topic
and experience the things that we would have never
gained through going straight into a job. I am very much
grateful to my college for giving us this wonderful
opportunity.
I have learnt various concept of prestressed concrete and
its applications.
Future scope of it is very large and it will surely help to
build a world with safe use of concrete.
