4. Pressure
Pressure (P) expresses the magnitude of normal force
(F) per unit area (A) applied on the surface.

10. Bourdon tube pressure gage
The Bourdon pressure gauge uses
the principle that a flattened tube
tends to straighten or regain its
circular form in cross-section when
pressurized.

An instrument used to measure the pressure exerted by liq
uids and gasses. Pressure is exerted on one end of a U-
shaped tube partially filled with
liquid; the liquid is displaced upwards on the other side of
the tube by a
distance proportional to the pressure difference on each sid
e of the tube.
