Sucralose is an artificial sweetener that is 600 times sweeter than sucrose or table sugar. It is made through a process of selective chlorination of sucrose. Unlike sucrose, sucralose does not metabolize in the body to produce energy. Sorbitol and carrageenan are used in commercial food products. Carrageenan is derived from seaweed and is used as a thickening agent. Hyaluronic acid has various uses in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and foods. It is commonly used as a binder, disintegrant, or coating agent in tablet formulations, along with other compounds like starches, cellulose, gums, and sugars.
