3. As Cruel as School Children is the third Gym Class Heroes album released by
Fuelled by Ramen. It was released on July 25, 2006. By looking at the cover we
can predict that
the album is structured like a day at high school, with a stereotypical link that
captures the audiences attention. As we can see the image it looks as if there is a
scene of bullying being created .We can see multiple school children all in the
background laughing and pointing and the main subject. The first thing that will
capture the buyers attention would be the boy in front of everyone. This picture
is not something you would normally find on an album cover as most
conventional albums feature the artist or a symbol that represents that artist
where as this album does not reflect this bands representation at all .The cover
does not give of a ‘professional ‘look and more like a fun and not to serious
element about it.The overall interpretation I get from this album cover is that it is
very American themed with the cover set as a cartoon , classroom setting with
the students behaving in a stereotypical way portraying what the album name is
saying which is “ As cruel as school children”.

5. Graduation is the third studio album by American hip hop artist Kanye West, released September 11, 2007 .
West collaborated with Japanese contemporary artistTakashi Murakami to oversee the art direction of
Graduation as well as design the cover art for the album's accompanying singles. Often called "theWarhol
of Japan", Murakami's surrealistic visual art is characterized by cartoonish creatures that appear friendly
and cheerful at first glance, but possess dark, twisted undertones.
The cover is based on Kanye's theme of student life. School. It's represents a place of dreams, of
righteousness, a place to have fun. It's also occasionally a place where you experience the rigid dogma of
the human race. Kanye's music scrapes sentimentality and aggressiveness together like sandpaper, and he
uses his grooves to unleash this tornado that spins with the zeitgeist of the times.
This album cover is also an unconvential theme. This cover also does not feature Kanye West but just a
representation of the title ‘ Graduation’. The colours used are also unusual and make it seem almost as if
it’s an album for a younger target audience because of the cartoon elements and colour scheme.
With the album cover set out the way It is , it does give a clear representation of album title. The image is
not to make the audience wonder how it relates , it gives a good indication of to what the songs in the
album are going to be based upon .

7. Lungs is the debut album by the London-based indie pop band Florence and the Machine, released 6
July 2009.
Florence and the Machine’s Lungs album cover is one of the most unusual out of the three comparable
medias .This is an extremely different cover , even though it features the artist on the cover unlike the
others .The appearance of the artist has been projected in an unfamiliar and original way .The way
that the title ‘ Lungs’ Is represented throughout the picture is a very clever way .The use of colours
that are on the cover also add to the effect of what the album is all about as more than one of her
songs and music videos are set in open areas with nature all around and this relates to the flowers and
trees in the background of this image .
Overall when creating my own design I would like to make mine quite unusual and give it a different
effect which will capture the target audiences view. All these album covers have a unique quality about
them which has made them successful today and so I believe the more unusual and unconventional it
is , the better it will come across with those who are willing to purchase it.
