Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization founded in 1976 that builds affordable housing for low-income families around the world. It has built over 250,000 homes globally, including 50,000 in the US by 2004. Locally, Habitat for Humanity East Bay has served 250 families in Alameda and Contra Costa counties over the past 20 years by providing homeownership opportunities to low-income families who contribute 500 hours of sweat equity.
Our Model moves people from a cycle of poverty into a sustainable cycle of success. We strive for holistic transformation. Our Vision is a world in which all people have the opportunity to provide for their families and build a fulfilling life.
Erie, Pa., has been hit hard by the loss of manufacturing jobs, leaving 17% of individuals and 11% of families living in poverty. The dialogue-to-change process has made space for residents to voice their concerns and identify possible solutions to reduce poverty and violence, as well as attract new businesses.
The stability encouraged by homeownership may also be a prerequisite to the development of neighborhood identity, involvement in local social networks, and the engagement with local institutions and organizations that strengthen social support. However, with the advent of the housing market bust and the 2007 recession, the difficulties in owning and protecting an existing home from foreclosure have become more prominent.

Using Data Analytics to Measure Procurement ImpactTimothy Quinn
Delivered at Partners in Procurement, Halifax, October 2016
--
ABSTRACT: Measuring procurement impact is valuable for understanding the overall value of government spending on local and regional economies, and adds a critical dimension beyond mere cost competitiveness. In this session, Tim will discuss methods of measuring and validating data analytics on large government procurements in Canada (e.g. Lockheed Martin's F35 program) and municipal/regional government procurements in developing and underrepresented economies (e.g. facilitating SMB licencing and taxation in the Philippines; investing in Aboriginal capabilities in Canada).
Tim will discuss opportunities for leveraging internal and external technology partnerships to capture and analyze supply chains, and will share some of the challenges of implementing this level of data analysis in procurement software/processes. As OMX's head technologist and data scientist, and as a technical advisor to organizations such as The Sentinel Project, Tim brings a unique perspective on the benefits of responsible, results-driven procurement.
