E-Chaupal is an initiative started by ITC in 2000 to connect farmers in India through computer kiosks. It reaches over 4 million farmers across 10 states via 6,500 kiosks. E-Chaupal addresses problems facing farmers like lack of infrastructure, knowledge, and exploitation by providing services like market prices, soil testing, crop weighing, and immediate cash payments. This benefits farmers through lower costs and economic empowerment. It also benefits ITC through lower procurement costs and access to market intelligence. E-Chaupal has received global recognition winning several awards for its positive impact on farmers.
