Istituto Tecnico Economico “F. Severi” is a
business high school and is a branch of I.S.I.S.
“Valdarno” together with Vocational School
I.P.S.I.A. “G. Marconi” and Technical High School
I.T.T. “Ferraris”. They unite into one single
administrative unit with one head office and
under one headmaster, Mr. Lorenzo Pierazzi.
Each school has its own curriculum. Education in
Italy is funded and managed by the State
administration.

6. ● Italian high schools are in most cases oriented
to professions and trades. They prepare
students to fill specific work tasks within specific
industries. Our school teaches and trains future
accountants, managers, business
administrators and office workers.
● Our curriculum contains subject matters that
are precious to these professions.
7. In our school our students spend a
good part of their time, meet their
friends, learn new things. Our
school is where they become
adults and learn about the World
● This is our school

Valdarno, in the Arno Valley, between

15. The Town
Our school is in the centre of the town of San
Giovanni Valdarno, in the Upper Arno Valley.
It's on the banks of River Arno. It was
designed and built from scratch in 1296 and
was intended as one of the outposts of the
Florentine in the valley against their rival
towns. At that time various towns of Italy were
independent and functioned as small states
always in war with each others.
16. The design of the historic centre is based on
the organization of Roman cities with a large
central piazza from which two main roads run
perpendicular to each other. From these two
main roads run other secondary streets.
The town is the birthplace of the early
Renaissance painter Masaccio.
18. A Strategic position
● San Giovanni Valdarno is in a really
strategic position on the communication
backbone of Italy. The main national
motorway and railway go through its territory
connecting the North and the South of our
country. The upper Arno Valley is in the very
middle of Tuscany and in the very middle of
Italy's and Europe's History.
