12 tips for better contract negotiation and editingApprove Me
A recent survey has found that 53 million Americans are now freelancing, earning $1 trillion dollars last year. Behind many of the jobs freelancers are doing lies the art of contract negotiation. Sometimes, such as in the case of freelancing portals, those contracts are negotiated on your behalf by the portal itself.
How to brand yourself and get your freelancing business out of the garageApprove Me
People looking to hire a freelancer are put into the same position; they don’t have time to individually examine each qualified person for an extended period of time. They’re going to pick the one who stands out the most.
In a piece of research published in Nature last year, a tree density map showed that there are around 3 trillion trees on earth at the minute. That may seem like a lot of trees, but the research also pointed out that around 15 billion trees per year are being cut down, and that 3 trillion trees equate to only half of the number of trees that were around before humans come along.
This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.
This presentation by Morris Kleiner (University of Minnesota), was made during the discussion “Competition and Regulation in Professions and Occupations” held at the Working Party No. 2 on Competition and Regulation on 10 June 2024. 2. We've got
13 presentation ideas
that will help you boost
your credibility and help
get your business visible.
3. Draw from real life.1
Share your failures.2
Find an anecdote or real-world example that makes
you relatable, despite that necessary barrier.
By sharing a few examples of failures or mistakes that you’ve
made on your journey, you’ll not only become more relatable,
but will also help other freelancers realize that success isn’t
usually instant, and that persistence pays off.
4. Provide the
opportunity for
action.
3
Don’t wing it.
4
Remember, you’re not just
here to spout information
at people; it’s important to
make the information
useful. Provide actionable
steps that will help your
audience put this
information to good use.
A presentation done without
preparation can easily do an
audience a disservice. An off-
the-cuff presentation likely
won’t come with helpful
resources and well-thought-out
answers, and can make yours
feel less than authentic.
5. Do more than just talk
at people.
5
Keep your slides simple.6
"Performing in front of an audience means that you are the
entertainment. So, behave like it. Even educational content
can be presented in an engaging way."
Provide necessary and helpful facts on each slide, and leave
the embellishments for the spoken portion of the presentation.
Cristoph Trappe
6. Make your slides visually pleasing.
7
Make yourself easy to find.
8
Avoid clutter, avoid giant blocks of text, and insert some graphics
that will help keep people’s attention.
Try displaying your information on the first and last slides to give
people a second chance to find you.
7. Get interactive.
9
Make your
presentation
accessible.
10
One way to epically step up
your presentation skills is to
schedule helpful, relevant, and
easy-to-share tweets during
your talk. Let your audience
know what your Twitter
handle is.
Create an online version of
your presentation that is
easily accessible after the
conference is over.
8. Explore different
presentation methods.
11
Put yourself in a position
of authority.
12
One of my favorite alternative presentation ideas is the “panel
discussion”. This allows the audience to gain insight from real
people who are active in their industry.
This can be an especially beneficial position to be in. It’s highly
visible, allows you to connect with industry leaders, and, frankly,
can be a whole lot of fun.
9. Rehearse…
but not too much.
13
An over-rehearsed presentation
can feel forced or inauthentic…
and you don’t want to be that
one presenter who sounded like
a big fake robot.
