2. CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

3. 1.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND
Nowadays, people tend to use online application in order to promote and sell their
products. Moreover, people prefer online shopping because they can shop in a minute
even if they are busy and it is convenience as online shopping open for 24 hours a day.
Moreover, everyone have their own smartphone these days. Based on that, I decided on
develop a mobile application called PYXIS to sell and shop used item. This application used
consumer-2-consumer business model because consumers interact directly with each
other. PYXIS application provides users (sellers) where they can add list of used item that
they want to sell into the online market. Meanwhile, users (customers) can search used or
preloved item in the item category in order to purchase it.

The expected result of PYXIS application after completing the development is
where the process of buying and selling used item can be done through mobile.
This application will help user (seller) to advertise or promote their valuable used
things in the online market. Meanwhile, the user (customer) can buy secondhand
or preloved item that is much cheaper in price when using this application.
