Nepal relies heavily on agriculture, with over 65% of people directly dependent on it for their livelihood. The earthquake in 2015 devastated the agriculture sector, damaging crops, livestock, and food stocks. Agriculture in Nepal faces problems like a lack of infrastructure, use of traditional practices, and high post-production costs. However, Nepal also has strengths in agriculture like being the largest producer of cardamom and having indigenous fruits and fungi to explore. The IAAS Nepal organization works to improve agriculture through discussion programs, awareness events, and ICT training for youth.
