Lessonset about animals
 Group one and two
 Make clear to the students we’re going to speak
English
 Use a lot of body language
 Help the students by giving answers so they just
have to say no or yes
 It’s okay if the students answer in Dutch or just by
their body language
CLIL and 4phasemodel
 In every lesson we used CLIL
 Every lesson has a content and a language goal
 We use different methods to teach the students
English: we use a song, different little games, while
we speak we use a lot off images and body
language, we learn the students movements to
learn the animals
 In the different lessons we use all parts of the 4
phase model
Four lessons, one theme
Les one
 Every lesson is about four different animals
 This lesson starts in Dutch
 They learn about the animals: duck, pig, cow and
elephant
 The students learn the names and movements of
the animals
 They pick the four right animals out of 16 pictures
of animals
Les two
 Every lesson starts with a general introduction
about going to English
 They learn about the animals: cat, donkey, chicken
and frog
 They learn about the body parts: legs, eyes, mouth,
ears, tail, nose and trunk
Les three
 They learn about the animals: dog, bee, goat and
sheep
 They draw a bee using the body parts they already
know
 They learn about the habitats where the animals
live
Les four
 They learn the animals: tiger, lion, kangaroo and
alligator
 They know if a sentence is wrong or right
 We check what they learned by a little game in the
zoo

 Theme: Weather
 Sun, rain, snow and clouds
 Learning it by a song
 Use the song, speaking in English and use pictures
Individual lessons Marjolein
 They know about the four weather types
 They learn a poem about the seasons
 They search the right pictures at the right seasons
 We talk about the weather in those seasons
 They make the worksheet

  • 1. Presentation English - Lesson set of four about animals - Two lessons from Lisanne - Two lessons from Marjolein
  • 2. Lessonset about animals  Group one and two  Make clear to the students we’re going to speak English  Use a lot of body language  Help the students by giving answers so they just have to say no or yes  It’s okay if the students answer in Dutch or just by their body language
  • 3. CLIL and 4phasemodel  In every lesson we used CLIL  Every lesson has a content and a language goal  We use different methods to teach the students English: we use a song, different little games, while we speak we use a lot off images and body language, we learn the students movements to learn the animals  In the different lessons we use all parts of the 4 phase model
  • 4. Four lessons, one theme Les one  Every lesson is about four different animals  This lesson starts in Dutch  They learn about the animals: duck, pig, cow and elephant  The students learn the names and movements of the animals  They pick the four right animals out of 16 pictures of animals
  • 5. Les two  Every lesson starts with a general introduction about going to English  They learn about the animals: cat, donkey, chicken and frog  They learn about the body parts: legs, eyes, mouth, ears, tail, nose and trunk
  • 6. Les three  They learn about the animals: dog, bee, goat and sheep  They draw a bee using the body parts they already know  They learn about the habitats where the animals live
  • 7. Les four  They learn the animals: tiger, lion, kangaroo and alligator  They know if a sentence is wrong or right  We check what they learned by a little game in the zoo
  • 9. Individual lessons Lisanne  Lesson with ICT – Bodyparts  Start in Dutch  Talking about bodyparts in English  Song about bodyparts  Colour the right body part
  • 10. Individual lessons Lisanne  Lesson without ICT – Sinking and floating  Start in Dutch  Talking about sinking and floating in English  Fill in the scheme  Testing/trying  Talk about what we’ve seen  Make a boat
  • 11. Individual lessons Marjolein  Theme: Weather  Sun, rain, snow and clouds  Learning it by a song  Use the song, speaking in English and use pictures
  • 12. Individual lessons Marjolein  They know about the four weather types  They learn a poem about the seasons  They search the right pictures at the right seasons  We talk about the weather in those seasons  They make the worksheet
