• What is livestock waste
3. • live stock waste is of two types
• Liquid waste
• Solid waste
• Liquid waste:
• It includes urine, wnoff water, zain water and washing water.
• Solid waste:
• It includes feaces and beddings of animals
4. • Livestock waste uses
• Live stock waste can be used in following practices
• It can be applied in crop land
• It can be used as fertilizer & feed of animals
• It can be used for energy and biogas production
5. • Livestock waste Disposal
• There are many systems of livestock waste disposal.
• These are associated with handling, storage, treatment,
transportation and utilization of this waste.
• 1st system is to dispose off liquid & solid in combine form.
This is mostly used in the buffalo farm b/c buffalo contain
more water in the feaces & easy to wash it.
• Then mixtune of liquid & solid waste is applied to crop land
in the form of sherry.
6. • 2nd system is to dispose off the liquid & solid waste separately. For this,
solid waste is collected twice a weef from shed & stockpiled in a shed.
7. • This storage is done in two types of storage facilities
• Pole shed
pole shed shorld have concrete floor so that it can’t cause
contaminahon of ground water by seepage.
• Allnut,s manure pit
its capacity is 2m depth and 3*4 m in area while space required for
manure in 700-1000kg /m2 one animal of above 3-year deficate
40kg/day
8. • 3rd system is treatment of livestock waste by lagooning lagoon is
earthen structure act as digester & give environment for microbial
germentation of organic matter.
• Lagoons have marker in it for accommodation of waste material
9. • Live stock waste used in Bio-gas plant
• Live stock waste is used for production of ch4 gas. It is used for
cooking and electricity production
• Structure of Bio-gas plant:
