2. What is language acquisition?
• Language acquisition = the process by which humans acquire
the capacity to perceive and comprehend language.
• Language acquisition usually refers to first-language
acquisition, which studies infants' acquisition of their native
language.

Language learning
Language Acquisition: The subconscious process during which
children are unaware of grammatical rules. They get a feel for
what is and what isn’t correct.

Language learning
Language learning: It is conscious. It is the result of direct
instruction in the rules of language. In language learning,
students have conscious knowledge of the new language
and can talk about that knowledge.

5. Theories on language acquisition
-Behaviouristic theory: Human beings acquire their first language
through stimuli & the reinforcement of a response.
-Innateness theory: Human beings are able to produce and understand
utterances thanks to an innate capacity which only humans have.
- Social interactionist theory: This theory claims that human beings
acquire language through the interaction with other human beings in a
rich environment.
