How to run system administrator recruitment process? By creating platform based on open source parts in just 2 nights! I gave this talk in Poland / Kraków OWASP chapter meeting on 17th October 2013 at our local Google for Entrepreneurs site. Our media product, Porcelain, took inspiration from existing horror films and TV shows in its conventions, cinematography, mise-en-scene, and editing techniques. It uses typical shots and stereotypes of the horror genre, such as close-ups of creepy dolls and scenes in dark woods. However, the protagonist, who is aware of the doll's possession, challenges conventions by showing a hero who has fear. The title sequence incorporates fast cuts between shots and uses of dim and creepy colors, as seen in films like Se7en and Durham County, to engage the audience. While conforming to horror conventions, Porcelain challenges them somewhat through its vulnerable main character.
Evaluation of our Media Product: Questions 4, 5, 6 and 7
The student learned several skills in progressing from their preliminary media project to the full product. For the preliminary, they made mistakes like filming from a high angle instead of eye level, but learned from that. They improved subtle uses of keyframes and dip to black transitions. Their thinking changed throughout the process as they discovered challenges of a large cast and limited filming locations. Overall, they gained experience with editing, continuity, and fulfilling genre conventions to complete their teen movie.
Question 1
The document discusses how a media product follows conventions of the dramedy genre. It focuses on one main character throughout with characters that challenge stereotypes. Small problems build to a climax and are resolved. The soundtrack is happy but also fits dramatic moments. Love Actually and Juno are examples that conform to these conventions. Our film is a crime/thriller that focuses on a criminal. It uses conventions like suspense, danger and flashbacks to build up the story. The main characters are Steven, a mysterious and sinister man portrayed as having power over others, and Sara, a vulnerable teenage girl. The opening sequence is inspired by Se7en and uses repetitive shots and horror-like titles to set the genre.
The spirit of the alleyway (pitch)

Shooting Schedule
The filming timetable outlines 3 scenes to be filmed on the 2nd of March 2014. The first scene will introduce the stalker and be filmed at Brodies Café in Bromley using an iPhone 4 and coffee props. The second scene will show the stalking commencing on Bromley High Street and surrounding roads. The third scene will take place on Southlands Road and involve a white car to imply somebody is watching.
Pitch opening sequence

- 2. OUR GENRE • Our genre is a modern chick flick • Because of this we will have to include love, fun, new beginnings, comedy, ‘eye candy’ and fashion • This genre is great for us as it has very strong themes highlighting to us what we MUST re-create • These themes will be mirrored in all four micro elements (Mise-En-Scene, Cinematography, Sound and Editing).
- 3. OUR INFLUENCES • Heathers – 1988 • Clueless – 1995 • Mean Girls – 2004 • We purposely picked films from different era’s. This allowed us to look at what themes recurred in all the films and their trailers highlighting what we must include in ours. This then enabled us to move onto the creation of a story board for our film and trailer.

BASIS OF FILM STORYBOARD • Main character moves to a new ‘place’ • Get’s to grips with her surroundings • Makes friends/enemies • Becomes infatuated • Has a downturn/disagreement • Return to equilibrium • This formula which is in common in chick flicks and teen movies made it easier to script our film. However, as we’re creating a trailer we realized only the first few points would be vital to give the audience the background to the film. From the other points, the ‘best -bits’ could be picked in then put in the trailer out of chronological order to entice the audience.
