2. Film into television series.
• I have opted to adapt the 2003 film into a television series.
• I have chosen to make it a television series because it is a popular franchise and I would
make a popular television series as it is based on true events.
• There is technically only four locations in the film.
• It will be a POV series coming from the killers perspective.
• There is only a few characters in the film.
• The television series will run for 45 minutes on a Wednesday.
• There will be elements taken from the film for the television series.
• There will be 5 installments.
3. Narrative
• I am going to try and keep as close to the original storyline as possible.
• The storyline has a plot twist with requires lots of suspense.
• In the film , the plot is about a deformed man who wears his victims face because
he is disfigured. He lives in the family basement after being tormented by guests
and family members. He kills victims but loves his mom.
• He is shown being tormented.
• He kills each victim differently but gruesome.
4. Genre
• The main genre of the television series will be thriller and horror with a sub genre
of suspense .
• It is a thriller because it includes elements of horror.
• Also because it is aimed at a younger audiences I would try and make it as
gruesome as possible.
• In the movie there is hints of horror and thriller but also suspense due to the plot
twist and revelations.
5. Characters In the Film –
• Leather face –
Andrew Bryniarski
• Erin – Jessica Biel
• Morgan – Jonathan
Tucker
• Kemper – Eric Balfour
• Pepper – Erika
Leerhson
The characters in the film are similar to the ones that I
will be using in my television series. I want to keep as
close to the storyline as possible. However I have only
added a couple of more characters.
In my television series –
Leather face
16 year old leather face
Leather faces sister
Erin Morgan
Kemper
Pepper
Leather faces mother
Leather faces Stepdad (sheriff)
Leather faces dad
Jedidiah
Hitchhiker
6. Locations
There are only a few locations in the film. So I am not going to over complicate
things by adding new locations as the audience might be confused.
There are the locations –
• Old Mill
• Café and Petrol Station
• Terror house
• Meat Company
7. Finance
In order to make this 5 part installment, television series a success then I will have
to have a budget of £ 9,200,00. This includes props , settings and buying main stars
for the roles.
I will have to fork out for a director , producer and editor as well as sound editors.
Also I will have to buy costumes and pay for locations to be used.
8. Target Audience
• The target audience for my television show will be 15 to 25+ year olds.
• Social economic group E due to disposable income.
• The movie is a horror and usually younger audiences are intrigued by them.
• The genres are more suitable for younger audiences
9. Key Scenes
• The first scene where the hitchhikers shoot themselves when they are picked up
by the group of friends in the campervan
• Another scene will be where they stop at the gas station to call the police.
• Where they find the house and look around in the barn.
• When each person is slaughtered
• Flashbacks of his childhood.
10. Ethical Issues
• An ethical issue might be how a disfigured person is seen and how they are
characterized on television.
• This might be an ethical issue because there are scenes that show bullying
towards the boy and this might make the audience feel uncomfortable.
11. Cinematic Ideas
• It will be set in the 70s so I will be using Modern Technology but the
Mise-en-scene will be 1950s early sixties.
• I will be including my own ideas but they will be when he was a little
boy.
• He has these when he is applying a fresh new face.
• In this series you never see his face.
