Ramanujan IT City Case Study
2. WHY GREEN ?
• Urbanization of City/Town and Industrialization
burdens the environment & is unavoidable.
• Reduce Impact on environment to large extent to
maintain ecosystem & sustainability.
• Using Green Building Principles right from the
“Design Stage” provides a solution to both
“Operational efficiency”, “Social & Environmental
aspects”.
• Demand for the natural resources keep on
increasing. We need to adopt alternative
methods in order to fill up the shortfall
• Energy
• Renewable energy sources
• Optimal energy efficient building design
• Water
• Need for recycle and reuse.
3. WHAT IS
GREEN
BUILDING?
A GREEN BUILDING USES
• Less Energy
• Less Water
• Less Natural Resources
• Creates Less Waste
• Healthier for People Living
• Recyclable material

10. Smart and Integrated Cities
An Integrated City is developed as a
whole connecting all the areas within the
boundary in terms of no area is left out
undeveloped / partially developed.
All the infrastructure such as transport,
logistics, sanitary, power, water system,
voice and data connectivity shall be
seamless in all the areas

Operational phase
14. Green Building Initiatives: Key factors
Development Density & Community Connectivity
Preference for employees using Public transport, alternate mode of transport
and car pooling, Bike Sharing, Cycle and Electric Vehicle
Landscaped areas & Green roofs
Exemplary Water usage performance: 50% reduction achieved by providing
efficient fixtures and through efficient landscape design
95% achieved in Construction waste management
Exercising the operation with EnMS 50001 Certificate
15. More than 90% covered car parking provided there by reducing Heat Island
effect
Lowered operating cost through efficient Green equipment's used in HVAC
and Electrical systems
Improved Air Quality within the building taking care of employees and
improving their comfort level within airconditioned areas
Increased recycled content in materials used there by reducing use of virgin
materials
Use of low emitting & low VOC content materials
Provided Electric Vehicle charging station & offer “Free of Cost” for charging
Green Building Initiatives: Key factors (cont’d)
17. Unique Landscape Feature @ Ramanujan IT City
Landscape has played a major role in reducing the
surface albedo effect and mitigating the Heat Island
effect of the campus
Greenery of podium area reduces heat conduction into
the lower floors and also glare on the façade. The
landscaped compound wall and planters add to the
reduction in glare from façade
The top soil excavated during site preparation has
been reused for landscaping
Native species of plants were chosen since they can
survive with low water requirement.
18. Watering of garden is done with recycled water from
in house sewage treatment plant (zero discharge plant)
Sprinklers are used to economize water consumption
Recycling of the water used in water bodies helps us
to reduce its consumption
Trees planted in ground level were chosen in such a
way that they can provide shelter in 5 years to the
open parking slots and reduce Heat Island effect
Unique Landscape Feature @ Ramanujan IT City..cont’d
19. Central Park Garden

20. Green Vehicles Using of E Bike and battery operated car for
patrolling in the campus (Pollution Free)
24. Maximizing Public Transport/Car Pooling
Last Mile connectivity is a challenge &
many people using their own Car/Two
wheeler due to this issue.
We promote “Car Pooling” to reduce the
traffic on road and reduce the Co2
emissions
We promote “Shuttle services” to address
the “Last Mile Connectivity” issue to
enhance the Public transport usage
25. • Hollow block for wall construction (using fly ash)
• Energy efficient Façade design with composite ACP cladding (U-Value – 0.14 Btu/hr ft2 °F)
• Covered Parking
• Window Wall ratio of 30%
• Over deck XPS Insulation
• Double Glazed Unitized glazing (U-Value – 0.32 Btu/hr ft2 °F)
• Punch windows on East & West Direction to control Heat radiation
• Strip glazing on North & South for Efficient Day lighting
• Centralized Services in Utility block
• Provided a separate smoking provision away from building, maintaining building as
nonsmoking zone
Energy Conservation Measure -Architectural
26. Punched windows on the East and West To
control heat radiation
Glazing on the North and South to allow
maximum day light
Facade Design
27. We are using MBR (Membrane Bio
Reactor Sewage treatment) and
produce > 1000KLD of treated water
every day for flushing and garden
usage.
This ensures 100% recycling of water
and ensure Zero water discharge from
campus
Zero Water Discharge - STP

28. Control of Air Pollution
All the DG Set’s are
installed with scrubbers in
the stacks and emission to
atmosphere is totally
filtered.
There is no pollution to
Atmosphere
29. Technology Implementation
