Gabriela Magnuska and Hanna Miśniakiewicz volunteered in Ferrol, Galicia, Spain from July 18th to August 9th, 2020 through the organization Xeración. They conducted interviews with 18 local migrants and community members to promote diversity and integration. They made many friendships with people from Spain, Latin America, Asia, and Africa, cooking, surfing, and traveling around Galicia together. The volunteers were very open-minded and engaged in activities such as organizing sustainability events, making videos, and talking to the community. [/SUMMARY]

2. Who are we?
We are two Polish girls: Hanna and
Gabriela, who are interested in getting to
know new cultures, people and languages.
Our goal is to promote diversity and open-
minded attitude through our work.

3. Where did we stay?
At the North of Spain, in the region of
Galicia there is a middle size town called
Ferrol. We stayed in the city center,
sorrounded by magnificent squares and
spanish cafés. Two of the closest beaches:
playa de Doniños and playa de San Xurxo,
were located circa 30 minutes away from
the city by bus.

4. What did we do?
We conducted a series of interviews
with 18 people: both migrants as well
as the local community. The aim of
the project was to promote diversity
and integrate those two groups of
people.

5. We made many
friendships!
We have met amazing people along our journey.
Some of them were from Spain, others came
from Latin America, Asia or even Africa. Apart
from going out together, we cooked, surfed and
travelled through Galicia.

6. We met many volunteers
and had great time
together
All of the volunteers were very open-
minded and friendly persons.
They were all engaged into various
activities such as organising events
which promote sustainibility, making
videos, talking to the local community.
Together we have spent great time in
our flats and inside the office.

about great food
with great people
