in 1973 in New Delhi.

B.T.P.S has 5 units:Total capacity:- 705MW
3*95 MW=285 MW
2*210 MW=420MW


The Badarpur thermal power plant is mainly
divided into six parts:COAL STORAGE PLANT
COAL HANDLING UNIT

WATER TRATMENT PLANT
STEAM GENERATOR

STEAM TURBINE
SWITCH YARD
COAL STORAGE PLANT
In the coal storage plant we
store coal as a fuel. Coal is
delivered from the
supply points to the
firing section point.
by using heat of the
coal boiler water
heated .
COAL HANDLING PLANT
The function of coal handling plant is automatic
feeding of coal to the boiler furnace .
WAGON TIPPER
BOILER
Boiler is an enclosed vessel in which water is heated
and circulated until the water is turned in to steam at the
required pressure.
MAINLY TWO TYPE OF BOILER IS USED IN PLANT
1- WATER TUBE BOILER
2- FIRE TUBE BOILER
WATER TUBE BOILER
In these boilers water is inside the tubes and hot gases are
outside the tubes. They consists of drums and tubes.
FIRE TUBE BOILER
In fire tube boilers hot gases are passed
through the tubes and water surrounds
these tubes. These are simple & compact in
construction.
TURBINE
A steam turbine heat energy of the fuel is converted in to mechanical
energy and drives the generator.
There are basically two types of turbine
1.Impulse turbine .
2.Reaction turbine .
COOLING TOWER


Cooling Tower is used for cooling the
circulating water .
SWITCH YARD
Basic Component Of Switch Yard:
1. Isolator .
2. Current x-mer.
3. Potential x-mer.
4. Circuit breaker .
